Question about Sanyo DP42746 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

I have a sanyo DP42746 that won't turn on at all. I've checked the two lines coming out of the power filter board with a multimeter and both show 60VAC when I check each w/ respect to ground. I think that makes sense and is sending the appropriate voltage into the main power board. After following the schematics i noticed 5V_stb, 3.3V vias on what I believe is the main power board, and when using the multimeter pin in the vias receive 0v on each. I believe this is the same test point as is referred in the manual but I'm not certain. Any tips?

Hi,
If you didn't get the 5v,3.3v in the output of the chopper transformer it means that it didn't gone to a complete cycle. You have a problem in the main voltage regulator circuitry.
Check the reading and let me know to assist you further.

Sanyo turn it on green light comes on and stays on but tv will not model dp42746

open back panel and look for error code

to test all y sub boards remove the main power connection to the y main and turn the tv on if it powers on one of those boards are bad.. remove both sub boards. and plug in the y main. if it powers on then that board is good either, put your multimeter on 2k omh and test the upper ysub boards black connector, the top 2 pins with negative to the 5th pin positive. you should read 500-1k ohm if its way under 100 there is a short.

the bottom ysub board place the multimeters black probe on the bottom 2 pins of the black power conection and the red on the 4th pin.. results are the same.

low resistance means theres a short in the board.

Our sanyo dp42746 went black made a pop sound and would not turn back on no power light or nothing

Most likely a power supply board went bad. the pop sound is bad capacitor on the board. Most bad capacitors will look like this: 18976c2.jpg
The other picture below shows a normal capacitor in the middle, but two bad capacitors on the sides of it. One with the dome top and one leaking. 5d53c3a.jpg

You can try repairing the board by replacing the capacitors or replace the whole power supply board. Most replacement boards can be found at a good price at Shopjimmy.com or Ebay.
