My fax machine will send a fax, but I can't receive a fax?

The fax machine may be in secure receiving mode. The following is from the User's Manual section on Faxing. downloadcenter samsung com

Receiving in secure receiving mode

You may need to prevent your received faxes from being accessed by unauthorized people. You can turn on secure receiving mode to restrict printing of received faxes when the machine is unattended. In secure receiving mode, all incoming faxes go into memory. When the mode is deactivated, any stored faxes are printed.

Activating secure receiving mode

  1. Press btn_fax.png(Fax) on the control panel.

  2. Press Menu until Advanced Fax appear.

  3. Press the left/right arrow until Secure Receive appear and press OK.

  4. Press the left/right arrow until On appear and press OK.

  5. Enter a four-digit password you want to use and press OK.

You can activate secure receiving mode without setting a password, but cannot protect your faxes.

  6. Re-enter the password to confirm it and press OK.

  7. Press Stop/Clear to return to ready mode.

When a fax is received in secure receiving mode, your machine stores it in memory and shows Secure Receive to let you know that there is a fax received.
Printing received faxes

  1. Access the Secure Receive menu by following steps 1 through 3 in "Activating secure receiving mode."

  2. Press the left/right arrow until Print appear and press OK.

  3. Enter the four-digit password and press OK.

The machine prints all of the faxes stored in memory.

Deactivating secure receiving mode
  1. Access the Secure Receive menu by following steps 1 through 3 in "Activating secure receiving mode."

  2. Press the left/right arrow until Off appear and press OK.

  3. Enter the four-digit password and press OK.

The mode is deactivated and the machine prints all faxes stored in memory.

  4. Press Stop/Clear to return to ready mode."

Not receiving any incoming faxes

Is the phone line working? Do you have any devices connected to the phone line that pick up before the fax machine? Make sure the machine has paper and is set to FAX or AUTO. Is there a Memory Full error? Clear the memory (Setup > Memory Clear then press Start/Enter. Use the left and right arrows to select the items to remove. Press Start/Enter twice (second time to confirm the choice). Repeat until all memory is cleared that you wish to clear. Then press Stop to exit.)

If you are using the ANS/FAX mode and have an answering machine connected to the extension port, disconnect the anwering machine and switch to FAX or AUTO. Check if the machine receives faxes. Sometimes the extra device causes interference. Call the fax machine from a different phone number and see if you hear the fax tones.

Check that the Junk Fax barrier is off, if the incoming call is from a machine that is not listed in your speed dial database. If you have a distinctive ring, make sure that the Fax machine has learned the ring by pressing Setup go to DRPD. Choose Set and call the fax machine from another phone. The LCD will say Waiting Ring until it gets that call and then once the ring is learned will say END DRPD Setup

I hope these ideas help.

(If you have a phone company voice mail service, the faxes may end up stuck in that box. It depends on how many rings the fax is set to wait before picking up versus when the voice mail opens to take the call.)

Several possibilities with that. Trying to think what order to try things.
In your menus or settings, there should be a way to clear the memory. You may have software corruption causing that issue.
If you do a memory clear, you will have to enter your date, time, phone number and company name.
You may have a loose connector to the interlock switch or on the circuit board. You would have to unplug the machine and disconnect and reconnect the connectors.
one of the cover interlock switches itself is defective.
Could simply be one of the covers is just twisted or warped.
Possibly one of the cartridges is not seated and arching, corrupting the memory.
After that, there very much less likely is a bad circuit board, ( very unlikely).
The reason I suspect memory corruption is because you have to unplug and plug it back in to clear.
A faulty switch shouldn't make you remove and reconnect power. But, stranger things happen...
Good luck and let me know whats up. Maybe I can offer more ideas once you check theses items. I know , it's a lot.
