Robert, re Literati Start up went fine until the intital restart. in other words, we charged it, then successfullly got on our home wifi network, did an intial literati 'update' or download I believe was the terms were..whatever the instructions called for - it seemed to doing it. After this the instructions said to 'restart'; we clicked 'restart', walked away, and came back to blank, black screen, frozen. we tried to reset, no luck. then read your instructions to hold reset for a full minute, no luck. can you suggest anything else besides getting hold of customer service? i

No internet connection over wireless netwok

first of all make sure your wifi is turned on. In the lower right tool bar next to the time & date, click on the wifi, click open network & sharing. Click manage wireless networks. Hilight each and remove until it is completely empty. Restart your computer & you should be fine. If not there is a physical problem with your wifi.
luck,

I cannot get the Literati to install the driver on my computer, nor can I find a driver installation online. Help.

There are no drivers for the Literati. You can try updating the firmware to 1.9 to see if it fixes the problem. To update, connect the Literati to your network via WiFi. The update will be pushed to you.

I received a kindle for Christmas. It has been wonderful until last night when it stopped connecting to the Dell or whispernet wi-fi. What to do?

Something has changed in your wifi settings first check wifi is turned on (press menu On the right hand side next to the battery it will say off is wifi is turned off) the first option in the menu is turn on wifi.
if wifi is on click home -> menue and go to settings scroll down to wifi see if your wireless network is there if it is not but other networks are there it is a problem with your house network not the kindle

if your house network is there with a message next to it saying connect then click connect if it says forget then forget it and connect again.

If the device fails to connect you should go into settings push menu and then restart if still no luck go to settings and click reset to factory defaults and try again through wifi settings if this does not work their is a fault with your device and you have to talk to amazon

amazon will charge you to replace the device if you tell them anything like you dropped it so as far as you know it was working when you went to bed you woke up the next day and it didn't work ;)

let me know if this helps

We got the Literati for Christmas. We charged it for 6 hours as it told us to, now you can turn it on, but it won't leave the Literati title screen, and will not respond toi any buttons other tahn to turn...

Mine behaved the same way, however after about five minutes it made it to the home screen. Once I connected it to my wireless network it notified me of a firmware update. This required a reboot. During reboot it took almost five minutes to make it to the home screen again. Those were the only two times it took a long time to get to the home screen. So far so good.

I cannot connect my Literati to WIFI

Ok! This is what I fund out personally. The WiFi connection needs to be a non-hot Wifi network. Meaning certain Wifi connections have a security lock preventing any file transfers. I tried several locations to make a connection (Coffee shops, Mc D's, Library, Work, etc.). The Best wy to connect your Literati is to find a friend who has a WiFi ruouter and ask him/her of there password temporarly.

Now you need to enable the Wifi under the settings area by hitting the menu button ans scroll down to the settings tab. select the Wifi or wireless option. Enable the Wifi and your unit should start scanning the area networks. This is where you'll find your friends link or an open unsecure network. Do not select any links that have a pad lock unless your know there password. Once you join, wait about 1 minute and the unit will prompt you to update the software. From here it all down hill..

I just got the Literati. I am not able to pick up any Wi-Fi at my home, or even using my Droid as a Hotspot. I installed all the desktop software, thinking I might be able to just buy and download...

We solved this issue by turning off the security on our hotspot. It needs to say "open", not "wpa" or "personal". This fix will however leave your network vulnerable. we just turned our security back on after downloading. Good Luck.
