So it shuts down when there is no battery just plugged in but will work with both batter and plugged in?
if so. you have a loose charging connection on your laptop mine is too on my satellite that im on now. i think we have teh same model. also your power brick may be failing to provide enough current

Have you checked the temperature of your system? At most of the cases like yours the reason is high temperature. In that case shut down your laptop and eject the battery. Use a soft brush (and if possible air under pressure) to clean up pedantically the air blinds all around the laptop. In case of using air under pressure leave the laptop to "rest" (and the temperatures and humidity to balance) for about 15 minutes. Check for your problem again after this.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

My HP Pav laptop just died (shut down on me) and wont turn on

1.remove the battery and disconnect the power cord from the laptop. 2.hold down the power button for 1 minute 3.now connect it only to the power cord.keep the battery away 4. as soon as you press the power button to turn it on, keep on tapping F8 key. 5. If you see advanced option, you can choose safe mode with networking and it hit enter. 6. now remove the security like Norton or macafee and scan it with malwarebytes(www.malwarebytes.com) 7. Now, restart the computer 8. If data is not important you can restore the computer to the factory setting, but all of the data would be lost. 9.to restore the xp computer start press F10 at the startup 10. to restore the vista computer start press F11 at the startup.

How do i access the processor fan for hp pavilion dv5000 because it gets extremely hot in the top right corner, then shuts down. and the fan only runs for like 2 minutes every 30 minutes

Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer .

AND

With the ear bud clean the vents of the fan and check whether it is happening again. And if it is happening again do the bios update of the computer from the hp.com website and check.

Printer cycles on/off and displays "improper shut down"

Got the same problem following a message "Printer ink failure" code 0xc19a0035. Instructions say to shut down using button on/off. But printer refused to shutdown. After 30 minutes, I disconnected power cable. Removed cartridges. Reloaded cartridges. Reconnected power cable and got "Improper shutdown" message with continuous cycle. Solution: 1. While the printer is still turned on, unplug all cables and cords at the back of the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord also from the wall outlet...
3. Wait for two minutes.
4. Reconnect power cord to the wall outlet first.
5. Press and hold the pound (#) and six (6) buttons.
6. While holding down the two buttons, reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and after two seconds, release pound and six buttons.
7. Turn on the printer if it turns off... and it's fixed.

This is most likely a hardware issue that coincidentally happened at the same time as you were restarting your computer. Something inside your computer could be having problems or overheating. I would guess power supply first. Try this though, as it just might need to be reset:

1) Unplug the computer power cord from the wall for 1 minute. Plug it back in to the wall. Try to start your computer. If this does not resolve your issue...try step 2.

2) You need to reset your BIOS. Refer to the follow link to accomplish this: Reset BIOS HowTo

Let me know how you make out.

Blinking AC light with/without battery, computer shuts down

I want to try a very simple thing, cause it happened to me, while I am working on my computer , it shut down unexpectedly... cause the processor is working with its full performance and no enough cooling around the laptop. so while I move to other place and also I raise the laptop a little bit from the back to let the fans (bottom of the laptop) works perfectly .
try to open it again and do so.... may be it is a so simple thing that was far from your mind like I was before... good luck

Shutting off

Try running it without the battery and see if it does the same. Sometimes a bad power supply will cause a short to develop in the battery. If it stops shutting down without the battery the you'll need a new battery.
