Question about Dell Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My existing Sony desktop speakers is working properly, when a friend gave me a used dell home theatre speaker system with a subwoofer, but w/o center speaker. Since i'm using a dell computer, I noticed that all cable connections from the dell speaker matched to my dell computer cable connection. But when I completed the installation, no sound comes out from the the dell home theatre system. I tried several options to find the problem via troubleshooting, but did'nt work out. I don'nt know if I missed something during the installation. The connection between my dell computer & dell home theatre speaker system looks perfect, except no sound coming out. Please advise.

Hello Guys,Can you please help? can I replace the sub woofer on my sony home theatre system DAV-DZ231 with a Celestion sub woofer s10

Presumably, the Celestion subwoofer is self-powered in which case it would connect to an RCA subwoofer output on your Sony system if there is one.

This may not be Dependant on the Music or DVD, but with the setting on the Home Theater system. Try out all the modes - such as 2 Speaker, Multi etc. within the Home Theatre system. In one of the mode only the center speaker works.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I have bought a Sony Home theatre with total 6 speakers (including woofer, rear speakers (2), Front speakers with stand(2) and onr central speaker. But the centre speaker is not responding during TV,...

That would all be a function of your HTS, not necessarily the speakers.

Get a handle on how IT works, maybe find the manual and perform setup to verify the speakers work at proper levels.

I imagine it has several Digital Sound Processing modes that can create multi-speaker sound from any source.

How to plug speakers up to amp

Depending on what system you have the answer could be different. I see a theatre system on screen so I will address that. You should have five speakers and an amplified woofer. Two speakers get connecte to the front left and right connections. This used to be standard stereo. Two speakers get hooked up to rear left and right. Keep in mind that they are talking about left and right from the listeners perspective. The final speaker gets hooked up to the center connection and should be placed on top of the viewing unit. The subwoofer should be connected to the subwoofer port and placed to the right of the screen from the viewers perspective. Hope this helps. Let me know.

No human sounds when playing dvds.

sound like the center channel is out
either bad connection at speaker or receiver is not putting out sound on center. A quick swap of speakers at receiver end will tell you if it is the latter

Have an existing ts-1100 home theatre infinity speakers

You cannot use this system with one that does not have a Subwoofer or LFE (Low Frequency Effect) output. Unfortunately, this sub doesn't have a line-level (speaker wire) input. Sorry.

Friend gave me a jbl surround system to go with my 52" sony hd tv. It has four speakers. three sat 20 and one bass 20. going to a rca stva 3970 receiver. didn't have instructions to go with it.

You need two more speakers to get surround sound,ie> two front one center and two for surround, then you need a home cinema amp to run the speakers and decode the sound from your tv,sky, dvd etc,and the sub gives you your bass.

Hope this helps.

The rear speakers are meant to be placed at the rear preferrably overhead or at the bottom behind your listening area. Both speakers should be facing the sides. You can place your subwoofer anywhere as its sound is non directional. Don't forget to adjust its volume properly, the rear should not overwhilme the front/center sound. Happy Listening
