The area behind the bobbin is in pieces, how do I put it back together. I have a kenmore.

do you have the book? it should show you how. if not take the pieces out that are loose and lay on a flat surface, now put together as if it is a puzzle, it will only fit one way. look to see if anything looks like it broke off rather than fell off. if nothing looks broken lift your machine up and lay on side so bobbin hole is facing up and see if you can lay the parts in as you put them on the table, if they don't snap into place look as see if maybe a small screw might have fallen out. hope this helps good luck.

Where do I put oil

Oil is placed where there are two pieces of metal rubbing together.
1. You must look for moving parts while moving the hand wheel. 2. There are some holes on the frame to give you access areas that need to be oiled..
3. The bobbin rides on an indented area called the race. Place one drop at this location frequently.
4. The motion of the needle arm going up and down between two holes needs to be oiled.
5. The pressure foot has a movement of a steel tube (arm) that needs oiled every now and then. The up and down motion of the pressure foot switch has two pieces of steel rubbing together in order to raise and lower the foot. It is important to oil here and on the spring that is inside the tube.
Anyway; make sure you look for steel against steel and oil it.

How to put the striker from a door knob kit back together

i can help you with that...just follow this steps...
1.Remove the old doorknob by taking out the screws that hold it in. You will have to remove the striker separately by removing the screws that hold the strike plate in place on the outside edge of the door. Slide the striker out.
2.
Take the new doorknob, striker, and strike plate out of the packaging and look for the directions. (Most doorknobs are installed in the same way, but there are always exceptions.)

3.
Slide the striker bar into the hole. Insert the screws into the striker plate and tighten.

4.
ake the two halves of the doorknob, and place the one with the male end through the hole in the striker bar. Place the female side of the doorknob on the other side of the door and make sure that it lines up with the male end. Slide the two together. Screw the knob together using the two long screws that came with the doorknob. Make sure that the screws are tight. Make sure that you have the lock facing the right direction. You want the locking mechanism on the inside of the house or room.

5.
Test your work before you shut the door. Make sure that both sides of the door knob turn and the striker bar goes back and forth.

How do i replace the key and tumbler on a 91 chevy 1500?

You need to go to the part store and buy a special tool that compresses the spring inside the steering column. Don't cut corners, Disconnect the truck's battery. Without the tool you will not get the column back together. With the tool you will compress the spring, remove the clip above that dust shield. and then start to pull it apart. Remember to put everything back together how it was. That dust-cover looking thing must go back exactly how you found it or you will damage the plastic pieces to the horn circuit. When you pull the cover off for the horn be careful with the wire. Push and turn counterclockwise to remove. And you will pull out the directional lever and unscrew the little Phillips head screw from the hazard button so the turn signal Assembly can be moved so you can access the screw that locks the key cylinder in place.

Belt goes full speed when started the shuts off thats it

Hello there. This is usually a problem with the control pwb. The controller is what tells the motor how fast to run.
This item is available @ iconservice.com.
Locate your model number before going to the site. This is located on the lower frame (under the walk belt) or on your users manual. Once you have that you may go to the replacement parts section of the site and look for the controller.

Repair Procedure,
To locate this item you will need to access the motor area. Usually 3 or 4 screws on the rear of the unit on the opposite side of the walk belt. If the cover does not come off after those screws are removed then u will need to access under the bottom of the cover area to remove 2 more screws. This is done by tilting the machine on its side.
After removing the cover you will see the control pwb. (silverish with a circuit board) There will be a number of connectors on the controller. I suggest either taking a digital picture or writing down the wiring going to the board as to not mis-wire something when re-installing the controller. Remove the wires and there will be 2 screws holding the controller in place, remove them as well. After reinstalling the controller in the reverse procedure as above be sure to calibrate the unit. (directions should be located in the box)
Good Luck! Tim

Cant get it back together

I put together what I knew where it went, the put the whole thing together and looked at it before putting in the screws. I saw a hole and remembered a "button" there that moved sideways with a spring pushing it back into the original place. I reopened and after examining the part put it in that slot. I then put it together and it worked. I put the screws back in then and all is well
Thank you for the reply.
Glad I found your site. I will keep it if I ever need any help.

Conv problems with no pic has sound

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

Red lines and shadows, convergence wont work

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Red color off line

Go in and find the conv ICs, they will be mounted on a big heatsink1.gif and the wires going to the conv yokes will most likely plug in somewhere closeby.

Conv ICs are the workhorse of the CRT RPTV, and it is not unusual at all for them to need to be changed out at some time in the life of a CRT RPTV.

Mr Bob

Comment by MrBob84, posted on Feb 04, 2008 PS -
The wires for the conv yokes at the CRT necks are the thin ones. The thicker ones are for the hor and vert sweeps, which must never be disconnected from their circuitry during
CRT operation.

If your beam loses sweep on any of the CRTs, it will instantly score/gouge your phosphors on your CRT faces, vaporizing the phosphors there and ruining the CRTs. The beam is very powerful, but in normal operation moves incredibly fast, not damaging anything. Any slowdown of the movement of the very powerful beam that draws the picture, acts like the searing vaporizing beam in Tom Cruise's War of the Worlds.
