There are many way to unlock hidden files, so you have to specify it
anyway try this-
1) if your using OS window XP/Win7
soln: My Computer->Tools->Folder Option-> Go to View Tab -> select the radio button show hidden file, folder and drive

2) By using software for hidden the file, we have to unlock the file for the software itself

Samsung s2 portable, folders are showed as shortcuts !

OK you harddrive is infected with Malware. This Malware creats shortcuts of each folder and Hide the all those your main folder.
You can scan your Hardrive with fully updated Anti Virus apllication .

To see all your original folder you can enable your Shown hidden File option from your Folder option--View--uncheck show hidden files and folder--and uncheck hide protected operating system files.

Here is the step to unhide your all files and folder in one go.
Step 1:

Click on the below link and download the file "AutorunExterminator"

http://en.kioskea.net/download/download-11613-autorun-exterminator

Extract it --> Double-click on "AutorunExterminator" --> Plug your Hard drive now.

This will remove the autorun.inf files from your flash drive and also from drives.

Step 2:

Click on "Start" -->Run --> type cmd and click on OK.

Here I assume your flash drive letter as G:

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and

paste it.

Note : Don't forget to replace the letter g with your flash drive letter.

Now press "Enter".

this should solve your problem.

Don't panic, you can recover files from external hard drive with asoftech data recovery program. get it from
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

I have used Asoftech data recovery for hard drive data recovery for about 20 years, and they have never failed me...including the one time a disgruntled employee deleted everything and then formatted the hard drive. OnTrack was able to recover 95%+ of the wiped data within 24 hours of getting the drive.

I have a problem with my samsung portable hard drive, it caught a virus and i can no longer access my files. it shows nothing yet when i check properties it says that my files are still there, what can i...

Hi,
It is due to virus activity. Some virus make the contents of the drive hidden, thats why user can't see the files. This can be fixed and data would be available to you. However, there are number of steps involved.
It is suggested that go to FOLDER OPTIONS - and select 'SHOW HIDDEN FILES & FOLDERS' and uncheck/ Deselect 'HIDE PROTECTED SYSTEM FILES'.
creativetech_53.jpg
It would show the hidden files/ folders, if the system not infected Otherwise, from the clean/ virus free system you can see your data and copy all the required files/data. Select the required files and right-click and change the properties of the file by un-checking the hidden attribute. Please note that you can not change the properties (hidden attribute of the files) if the files are marked as system files. To change the attribute of such folders you can download and use iReset. Just drag the files/ folder to the iReset and it would change the folder attributes to normal and you would be able to view the files normally.

Also, make sure that you have a good antivirus installed and its updated. Scan your system and clean it.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

According to the microsoft site your external hard drive which is the Samsung G2 HX-MU050DC doesn't need any additional software it is automatically installed when connected..Maybe try to connect it to other USB port I preferred you connect it at the back of your CPU..If this doesn't work try to connect your external hard drive to other computer if it still doesn't work. sad to say but the problem is your external hard drive..

My computer does not recognize my simple drive when I plug it into computer

Hello,

Please note that: a drive formatted with FAT32 file system will not see NTFS formatted file system, whereas, a drive formatted with NTFS file system will definitely see FAT32.

To make it clearer, this means that, if on your system, your hard drive which is having the operating system installed on it, is formatted with FAT32 file system, and you bring an external drive, or even a backup drive which is formatted with NTFS file system, and you plug it to your system, the system will detect it but it wont be able to access the full drive capacity, you will just see it in the device manager page that it is connected.

But If it is Vice-Versa, the NTFS formatted drive will detect the FAT32 drive.

Now in your own case, if your system is formatted in NTFS file system and you plug in your external drive which is NTFS formatted also, then it means that you have some hidden partitions on your external drive, so when you plug it, try and do this:

Right-Click on my computer icon, select manage, then go to Disk Management Option.

On the Disk management option Page you should see ALL the drives installed on your system, including the hidden ones, so what you will just do is, try and locate the one representing your external drive, and right click on it. then select "Change Drive letter and Paths", and give the drive any new, unique letter (i.e alphabet) different from the ones already on your system, and click on OK.

If you see any other hidden drives there, do the same thing to it.

This should make your External Drive to be detected automatically.

Also Make sure that the USB port that you are using is a USB 2.0 port, and not USB 1.0 port, you can just try the other ports there, to be sure.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck!
