have just inspected the control/main circut board. looks like a fuse has blown and signs of heat damage/browning on the circut / control board. your diagnosis is correct. i will price a new one before i decide what to do. i am thinking after 10 years some other components are coming to the end of their useful life. dont want to put good money into an old machine.

  • pnclose Mar 17, 2011

the solution was not only helpful but being on line with experienced technicians helped me to feel confident enough to open the control /consul and find the problem. A fried control board. great to know prompt help is easy to find. have decided to buy a new machine. thanks for your help. will use this service next time i have a problem.

What excatly is the issue, no power to the machine? Or is it that the machine has power going in, but nothing responds when you turn it on? I will be searching the data base while I await your reply.

This machine has a hystory with pump failures and this just may be what your issue is due to the way it is wired and controlled. Also and easy way to check it out and easy fix if the pump is the culprit.

The pump is part of the machine's internal power circuit. A bad pump will prevent it from powering-up. A leaking pump that has the windings damaged, gone to high resistance, can also kill the controller board. Get under the machine, remove the pump (no tools needed, pull the wires, find a white plastic latch on the metal mounting plate, hold the latch and rotate the pump body counterclockwise to remove it from the plate). Examine the pump for signs of leaking, and/or darkening or corrosion on the windings (pull off the plastic cover for a better view). Check the pump with a volt-ohm meter, it should read 33 ohms. If not, replace it ( (Lube the rubber seal face on the pump with liquid hand soap or dishwashing detergent when reattaching it.) If the machine is still dead with a new pump, then the controller board will need to be replaced, which is considerably more expensive, so you need to decide up-front if you want to go the distance with the repair. Sears may allow return of the pump, you might check on that.

If your getting power to the machine and the controls light up and work.

Try putting the controls into diagnostic mode. The tech sheet inside the control panel explains how to do this but here is the quick version

    To enter Diagnostic Mode:

    • Turn power off at the console

    • Press and hold the wash temperature down then press the power button. The machine should give two short beeps.

    • The different levels of information can be extracted by using the spin speed up or the spin speed down buttons.

If the control board won't enter diagnostic mode, it's a good bet the control board is fried. Usually, when the control board fails, one of the line voltage components fried and took out the control board, too. Be sure to test the peripheral components before replacing the control board or you could fry a brand new one.

Try checking the pump, for the issues I listed , if not the pump then it will be the control board.

Motor checks out good, the only other possibility is the control board. They don't have to look bad to be bad, but if it is not responding and you have power to it, there is no other conclusion to this issue, except a loose wire somewhere in the wires to and from the pump from the control panel. By the way, if you remove the little control console on the top (two philips screws), there should be a service supplement document inside with a number of useful diagnostic tips. I believe on this model there may be two fuses in the control board, check and see if they are blown. If they are this is an indication of a fault in the high voltage parts like the pump or diverter valve

The control board should look like this.

If my help was useful and the diagnoses correct, I wouod greatly appreciate if you accept my response and a vote of the 4 thumbs up would be most greatly appreciated. Thanks for using Fix ya and if you need more help I will be glad to assist. The new machines are much more complicated and troublesome, if this is all that is wrong with your machine, you might want to look at the options closely, too many bells and whistles on newer appliances.

Cvt light on indicating over heating. Stops car lets it cool down and then completes his trip. Dealer could not identify problem or diagnose the problem.

I do not know why your local Mitsubishi dealer cannot figure this one out. What you are describing is a known problem for which Mitsubishi has published a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB).

The problem is caused by incorrect transmission fluid levels and there is an updated dipstick included in the fix.

You may also want to talk to your son about heeding warnings from your vehicle's onboard computer system. When the CVT transmission begins to overheat, the CVT light will come on, a warning chime will sound, and the words "SLOW DOWN" will be displayed in the Muti-informational Display. This will occur LONG before the vehicle goes into "REDUCED POWER" mode. If he would slow down as he is being told to, the warnings will extinguish themselves as soon as the transmission fluid temperature drops to a safe level (which it will, if he slows down).

REDUCED POWER MODE is like an angry parent...."OK, you don't want to slow down like I told you to do, and you are going to destroy my transmission by ignoring my warnings, so I am shutting you down!!! You won't slow down, so I am slowing you down! Now, if you do not want this to continue, then you better start listening to me!"

Similar things will happen if you choose to ignore engine control or Brake/Traction Control warnings. The old days of ignoring warning lamps and running around with your dash lit up like a Christmas tree are over. There is a new sheriff in town called REDUCED POWER MODE.

Engine shutoff on hot days after 45 minutes.

it sounds like the electronic ignition system(under the flywheel) is going bad, that would cause the mower to shut down when it's hot. if you take it back to the repair shop ask them to replace it and it'll be good as new.. Good Luck

It wont come on just getting a flashing light on the left hand corner.

It is possible that it is having trouble recovering from sleep mode. Try holding the power button for about 10 seconds to see if it shuts off completely. If it does not, disconnect the wall power and remove the battery. Put the battery back in and start it up.

You will probably get a notice that it was not shut down properly the last time depending on the operating system, but you should be able to ignore that error.

Shutting down completely like power is gone or just DVD stopping with power on? If completely shutting down the look in power supply and find bad capacitor and replace. If DVD stops with power then look at laser, clean or maybe damaged.
