Question about Proform Exercise & Fitness

1 Answer

I have a pro-form 590 LT which I have for less than a year. After about a half an hour of use it started making this noise like it's grinding or something is rubbing in one sport. Is there a place for lubricant?

It could be several things. First, I'd check the roller bearings to see if everything is intact and working properly. Next, check the friction between the belt and deck. Improper lubrication could be causing this, as the belt is rubbing against the deck in an uneven manner and causing the sound. This is most important to check, as replacing the belt and deck are both VERY expensive. Next, I'd check the bolts for the frame itself, as one (or several) loose bolt could be causing the frame to rock slightly with your motion, and the metal pieces will rub causing a squeak. I'd have someone else use it while you do a (careful) inspection of the things you can safely look at while it's in motion. After that, unplug it and give it a more thorough inspection. Hope that helps!

Grinding noise underneath at the back of tractor while realizing clutch petal trying to move forward or backwards then noise stops while tractor picks speed

No it was a bad clutch pad and the slowing up and down was the clutch pad grabbing at certain spots that still had material and the noise was the clutch scratching as it slipped around the clutch plate and them greasing it could have started a fire from the friction of the plate and pad making contact.

I have a pro-form 680 LT less than a year old. The belt seems loose, it catches as I run and I about fall over.

The walk belt should be tight (about 1.5" to 2 " when lifted at the edge), if not tighten screws at the rear. If the belt is tight enough then pull the front cover off and check the front roller. Sometimes the plastic drive pully slips on the front roller. If it only stops while you are running and is fine when you walk, i would go to the front roller.

I was shredding paper when it started making a loud grinding noise and wouldn't accept any more paper. I've tried running it back and forth, but it only goes, maybe half way, either way, and it still...

This is a very common problem. Go out to the hardware store and buy some silicone spray. With the shredder unplugged, spray a good amount of the silicone inside all of the teeth and try to get all sides.

Plug it back in and work it back and forth a few times. It should work better with less noise now.

Load grinding noise, like the engine is working too hard.

Most likely the motor/pump assembly is worn out and grinding. If the machine is less than five years old it is under warranty. If over five years old, the repair part alone is about $150 not including labor.

Dishwasher making loud noise

Newer washers are designed with a food grinder inside to help grind up large pieces of food. What you are hearing is the grinder doing its job. You do not need to worry about the noise. It should go away after a while as the food particle is ground up.
