Question about Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 Notebook
I am trying to upgrade the momery from 2x 128M RAM to 2x 256M RAM on my wife's old Sate Pro 4600, but the laptop does not want to take it. It makes a beep sound, then shows the message "remove the incompatible memory in slot 1 (or 2)".
I do not understand... I double checked the 256M RAMs are PC100, SODIM. Exactly the same as the two 128M in the slots.
I tried adding one RAM and both at the same time, same problem. I checked and know the max. memory is 512M.
I tried the files in the link you provided, it did not help. Is there specific ones I shall use?
I took the most latest for the DMI,Special, Bios and utilities.
Kindly help again.

Just a few questions first, get back to me (before rating me), and I'll see if I can get you through this. You have tried each 256 chip individually in each slot with the same error, correct? Are the 256 chip the same make? What operating system are you running? And finally, at least for now, have you done any drive, utilities, or bios firmware updates lately?
