It sounds like when you replaced the shell, you may have not reconnected the touch screen's membrane sensor. I'd open the system back up and make sure there aren't any loose or disconnected wires.

Changed bottom screen tested before putting back

Hi,

Happens sometimes it is one of two things:
1) When you put the DS back together is the ribbon from the top screen wound to tightly as this can cause the ribbon to pull out slightly from the socket on the motherbaord causing the blackout.
2) I have seen this happen only once before! The plsatic of the shell had a small chip where the battery connectors from the motherboard stick through into the battery compartment. THis tiny piece of plastic was stopping the final connection between battery and DS. Drove me mad, did all the usuals checked battery connections etc. Worht a look.

Replaced the shell and now the touch screen isn't responding!

I have actually done this same thing attempting to repair my old gray DS. Had to replace the screen to screen cable and touch pad, but that is another matter.

When the DS screen to screen cables are out of place, the DS will act exactly like this. The screens will flash once and the DS won't even attempt a charge. This is a safety feature of sorts in the DS design to prevent a possible short.
I'm assuming you had to remove the screen to screen communication cable when replacing the shells so you most likely didn't put the cable in all the way into the correct ports.
Sometimes even if they are off just a bit the machien just won't use it and act like its outright dead.

Best thing to do is to go back and reinsert the cables again.
There should be a small line on the board just under where the cable should be. You need to try and aling the cable with this line as best as you can.
Push the cable as far back into the port as you can without forcing it in. You should never need to use much force at all.

Press the plastic tab down and lock the cable in place with the port and do the same with the second one.

Once thats done, plug it in and turn it on.
It should normally go into the settings as these are usually erased when the battery is removed.

If it continues the odd dead like behavior. Simply attempt the precedure over again until you ahve it right.
Commonly you may see odd colorisation and the like if the cable is in enough but not in just right.

Take your time with it and be paient. Its not always easy but isn't too hard once you figure it out on your own.

The same info should help with other cable problems like this aswell.

Good luck with the rerpairs.

Ds lite

sorry to say that your top screen needs completely replacing if it is doing as described!!
the bottom screen and the touch screen are seperate, jus mounted on top of each other, so if the picture works on the bottom then the bottom screen is fine just the touch screen is broken. again i think if the cables/ribbons are in correctly and it isn't responding then it will need replacing!!

Touch screen wont respond

double check that both cable/ribbons are connected properly to the motherboard, the small thin ribbon which curls over the top of the motherboard is the one which powers and reads the touch screen so double check this!!
if this is all in fine then im sorry to say your touch screen is broken and will need replacing!

Touchscreen does not rspond...

I am quoteing this from another user on here jetsetjim

on the top right hand side of the screen just under the front there are four or five contact pads this is where the touch screen get the info from the touch screen to the ds itself if you have taken the ds apart maybe the pads are slightly out of line this can be fixed by applying light pressure to the pads to make them stick down and get a proper contact

NIntedno DS lite bottom screen

IMPORTANT: it is not a grave or expensive problem but to solve this problem you need to dissasemble the intendo DS lite, so you must get some guidance like youtube videos on how to dissasemble the NDS Lite or other webpages with info on dissasembling the unit.
You have to carefully open the console, then check for unplugged flex cables and reinstall cables in the connectors to be sure. Then put the console together without screws to retest the unit and see if the screen is working now.

If not then you need a replacement bottom screen and depending on your abilities to retire the touch pad without cracking it you might or might not need a touch pad.

Take out the battery and charger to avoid short circuits while working.

Good Luck...

Thanks
