Question about Toshiba Televison & Video

1 Answer

My Toshiba 52RV530U seems stuck in a zoomed in mode since my sister in-law slept on the remote. I have tried every pic size, nothing does the trick. How can I fix this?

The brand of my HD Personal Video Recorder is Scientific Atlanta. The model is Explorer 8300HD . The connection is fairly simple, since I do not have a Home Theater system. There is one HDMI cable connecting the two devices.

    Thank you,

Hello Francis,

It's possible the picture size of the input source (cable/satellite receiver, etc) has been changed. The picture size should be set to NATIVE using the PIC SIZE button on the remote if you want a full-screen picture on the TV regardless of the picture size from the input source.

You seem to have already tried this so I think you may be looking for the problem in the wrong place. It would assist me in solving your problem if you could let me know whether you are using a Cable/Satellite receiver or any other type of set-top box / digital converter and, if so, the brand and model number of the box and how it is connected to the TV.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I'd suggest setting the picture size on the TV to NATIVE first with the PIC SIZE button on the Toshiba remote.

Once that's set, try pressing the # button on the cable box remote control slowly and repeatedly until all of the picture is on screen. Each time you press #, the picture size on the TV screen will change.

Please try this then let me know if you need further assistance. I think this will solve the problem.

Thank you Francis. It's always nice to be right but it's nicer to know that the problem is resolved. Glad I could help.

Check for a button that says 'pic size' or 'zoom' or 'aspect' or something similar on your remote. Most newer TV's have this funvtion but it's almost always controlled by the remote, not the TV menus.

I have a Samsung series 5 530 and the picture only recently is too big for the screen. also tried everything in the manual. Just started a few weeks ago.

The picture size may have been changed on the remote. Try the button that says pic size or something close to that. It must have been switched to a mode which zooms in the picture. That should fix it.

Why is my picture wider than the screen? It makes no difference what mode it is in. the picture is wider than the viewing width. Proscan 40" LCD

Look for button on the remote that reads, pic size, aspect or zoom. Press it until desired picture size is achieved.

I can not get the picture to fit the screen. When I watch sports channels I can not usually see the scoores at the top or bottom of the screen.

Check to see if you are in a zoom mode. There should be a pic size button on the remote, it can also be adjusted in the menu and cycle until you get either AUTO or Standard zoom. If this does not fix it, the light engine will need to be replaced.
