Question about Rowenta DZ5075 Iron

Open Question

I just purchased a remanufactured Rowenta Focus DZ5075 iron. The red indicator light stays on when plugged in. It does not show the yellow or green light- only red. As far as I can tell, it is heating properly- I tried with two types of fabric- and it did the job beautifully. Is this a serious problem... or just a fluke (being that it is remanufactured?)

SOURCE: Cleaning the bottom of my rowenta irom.

Hi,

Rowenta does sell a soleplate cleaner kit. But if you must do it yourself, I use nothing but Q-tips, a wooden orange/popsicle stick to genly scrape the tough brown stuff...and finish it off with "Dutch" cleanser, and old cotton sock, either dry or with a tiny bit of filtered drinking water. Do not use anything stronger, as the soleplate can be easily scratched.

SOURCE: Rowenta Steam Iron Leak

Yes, my rowenta model DX6700 is also leaking from the heal. I bought this iron after having a GE for ten years because I thought it would iron my clothes better. I've had it less than two years. How frustrating!!!!!!

SOURCE: need to know how to clean a rowenta iron plate

As long as it's not a coated surface - plain steel - get 0000 steelwool to rub it with. It will take some elbow grease but it will work to clean and (almost) polish the surface.

SOURCE: Iron spits out rusty water. The iron is a Rowenta

Fill it with a mix of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Let it set for 30 minutes and steam it out for about 2 minutes. Unplug it and dump it. After it cools colpletely, fill it with water and steam it out. The rust is coming from your water supply, not the iron.

Iron heating sporadically and sensor lights working sporadically

sounds like a loose connection in the power transfer, some piece of metal may be broken or the cord itself may be damaged in some place, you could try replacing the cord. I would just go and buy a new iron. They aren't all that expensive anymore. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hope you solve your problem. If you want any further help or have any other questions, please let me know, otherwise have a Good Day.

your iron has a thermostat fault its this thermostat thats cutting in and out that puts the red light on it could be fixed but that wont be a cheap fix best bet is to buy a new iron as that would work out cheaper

Iron only stays hot enough to iron for about 2 minutes. The red light blinks except for that time.

I suggest contacting Rowenta; if you check here at FixYa, you'll find a spectrum of problems with what should be a simple, reliable device. Several instances of the iron not turning off at all until the plug is pulled from the wall, several others that fail to turn on at all. This once was a good company and it wouldn't surprise me to find that they are now made in . . . China.

Sounds as if the cable may be damaged or a loose connection. May be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.

Light comes on, but iron will not heat up

Like what was posted before, the cause of the iron lights is on but the heaters are not hot is because either your heater connection is melted or rusted due to water seepage(steam irons). The lights power supply are tapped parallel to the heater supply thus lights is on. Solution is to dismantle the iron to replace the connectors or cables. Though not all iron is easy to dismantle
