Hi Stevefrazier,

"NO Operating system found" is a possible corrupted Operating System or a HDD/hard drive problem.

You can try these steps to try to boot to your OS:
1. disconnect all external devices connected to your computer
2. check your boot sequences in your BIOS and make sure HDD is selected first
3. Start your machine back.

IF these will not work,
You can try to boot to safe mode - Power your computer again and tap F8 while its loading.

IF those doesn't work, Try these,
1. Reseat your HDD
2. If still same problem, contact your Support Provider for futher troubleshooting because worse case scenario, you will have to reinstall your OS or replace your HDD.

Hope this answers your question.
Good Luck!

If it says no operating system this means that OS can not be found whether it is hard drive issue like a bad hard drive or maybe a hard drive cable. You can try to boot in to safe mode by tapping F8 key on boot up and see what happens. If this does not work you will have to open it and first try different cables and then if that does not fix it than try another hard drive. Good luck.

If this is the first time your trying to start up this computer try to restart it. Sometimes brand new laptops can fail to find the operating system on first startup. If this isn't the case it sounds like your Hard Drive is either disconnected or has had a critical failure.

Hello. I have Sony Vaio PCG-5426. And I can't reinstall windows on that machine. I have out CD-ROM "II FreeCom" and i try to reinstall with that. In BIOS menu I acces for first boot drive...

you shouldn't need to have to press f9 to boot from cd rom if you have it set in the bios as the first boot device , are you sure the copy of windows on cd that you have is bootable. Try booting from the disc on another laptop or pc and see if you can start it

Another option to try is to boot from a usb drive

instructions on how to do that are here

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=118576

once you have booted to usb you should be able to access the cd rom

depending on what version of windows you are trying to install you will need to run different programs.

you could also install vista or windows 7 to usb drive and install it from that, it is much quicker than installing from cd/dvd you would need to be able to boot from usb to start with though

how to install vista or windows 7 from usb instructions can be found here

My vga card for sony vgn-t2xp model pcg-4d1m

The model of your sony vaio is VGN-T2XP/L and chassis type is PCG-4D1M

I can only give you a link where you can download necessary drivers, updates/firmwares or original drivers that comes with this unit. It depends on what operating system you are currently using.
If you then upgrade your operating system for example from windows vista to windows 7, then suddenly some hardware including sounds, lancard, vga experienced some troubles, I do suggest you downgrade again your operating system or find appropriate compatible drivers that will work for your new operating system.
In this link you will find something that might help you.

How to format sony vaio pcg-4 series

Boot from the "System Restore" CD-ROM.
One of the "setup" options for XP (or for Vista) is to "format" the entire disk-space, before continuing with the re-install.

Sony Vaio PCG-TR3A, Blue Screen states cannot find operating syst

There should be a factory image on the HD when you try restarting it. Hold down the F8 key or F10 key while its rebooting this should start the recovery process you shouldnt need a windows disk.
