Question about Toshiba 50HM67 50" HDTV

1 Answer

I have a tosiba 50hm67. I got this tv from a friend and he said that the bulb shattered. I got a new bulb online and still no picture. The blue light stays solid and the yellow light blinks 10 or twelve times 8 times. According to the manual this is a problem with the light. After some research I decided that the ballast must be bad. I ordered one and replaced it... still no picture just the same lights.

I have checked the switch. It is operating correctly and the door is activating it. The troubleshooting guide for the tv has a different code for this problem.

do you have any other ideas of what it may be?

Hi mirowshimark,
Check the housing of the bulb, some unit has a reset switch in the housing of the bulb. If the bulb is not fitted right this switch is disable and make the unit gone to blinking error.

to avoid wasting your money and time you may download the service manual http://service-manuals-schematics.com/pu.... Listed here the error code and parts you are going to check. I've check my file but I haven't a copy of this yet. I've also check a free download but none is available.

most of the error code I've encountered is related in the output of the power supply. It has a main regulator IC and multiple regulator output feeding to main board, ballast board, tuner, etc... You have to checked the output voltages of each regulator. If there's a missing voltages there it will trigger the error code (blinks depend on the model and brand). Check also for bulged capacitor in that area, burnt fusible resistor. You must have a multimeter to do this job...

My toshiba 50hm67 has no sound

If you still have picture, and the sound was working before this--you may have lost the audio amp chip. I hope you are not running a bunch of external speakers on the tv here--this WILL kill that chip !!

I recently replaced the lamp bulb...it worked for a day and now I have sound and no picture and when you turn the tv on I get red flashing lights...and the after they are done flashing the light is blue.

You could have gotten a defective lamp. Try another lamp. Since you have a Toshiba youll be using it even if you don't need it now. Toshibas have short lamp life. If lamp does not fix then the light engine will have to be removed and sent to Toshiba to be rebuilt. They are no longer available.
