Question about HP Computers & Internet

I have a HP dv7-1275dx entertainment laptop, The original problem was push power button-lights up shuts off. Sent it out to get re-balled, laptops911 said board needed to be replaced.Replaced new mobo 507169-001 and dc jack. Same problem -lights up shuts off, I do not know what else to do

I bought a board last week and put it in today, it was new. Laptops911 wanted $400, I passed and had them send it back. I bought another charger this evening, I tried swapping different ram, pulling battery, ram and disconecting cmos battery then discharging the board thru the power button, I have done several laptop mobos in the past-IBMs, Toshibas,Acer, Dell and other Hp's but this board has got me stumped. There is 4 other boards that are part of the keyboard area shell that have not been replaced. Would one of these cause the system not to post?

I took your advice and did a little troubleshooting, and found out that the ac power adapter was not sending enough voltage to the board it measured below what was recommended. It is supposed to 18.4v 3.5ma what I got was 17.6v. So bought a new adapter and it fired right up.

Thank You for taking the time for giving me some good advice.

I would return the laptop to laptops911 if they replaced the motherboard and the same problem occurs then either they havent changed the motherboard or your just very unlucky, have you tried another charger?

have you tried disconnecting the vga cable and inverter plugs from the motherboard? Then trying to start it up with an external monitor connected. Replacing the motherboard and then finding the same problem has me a bit stumped myself, i did have a similar problem myself with an acer laptop that would just flash the screen power LED up once, when you pressed the power button, but that was a fused resistor that had blown and was a complete dog to find it. As you seem proficient in disassembling the laptops, i would advise getting a multimeter and connecting everything up then trace the power from the switch and see where it stops registering, you will at least then, have some indication of where the problem is stating. This also may allow you to rule out some boards of being the cause of the problem. My guess is that, it is something to do with the screen or the inverter, the inverter needs a good kick of power to enable it to jump start the screen and the fact that the laptop switches off immediately after turning on, indicates, to me anyway, that the problem lies on that part of the circuit.

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC. I push the

It sounds like a power supply problem (low voltage), or could be a battery going bad. Also, the vents to the cpu fan could be clogged up and overheating the cpu, causing it to shut down. You can spray the vents and area out with compressed air. Other than that, it will have to be serviced.
Good luck and hope this helps.

HELP!!!

Hi,

I am going to assume you has your laptop hooked up to another screen during this presentation. If so, you will probably find your HP is still trying to output to that screen rather than the one on your laptop.

Solution - There is a key to change the display. If you press the fuction key (FN), and F4 together it should change. If this doesn't work try pressing them again, but dont be too hasty. It is F4 on my HP so i think it will be on yours also. the key looks like a square with a smaller square inside and a line either side of it

Hope this helps,

James
