The monitor appears to be DVI capable, (White connector with a grid pattern). You will need to connect the monitor to the computer using a DVI cable (White connector with grid pattern and plus sign shape on one side). If your computer is not capable of connecting to a DVI monitor check to see if the monitor has a Blue VGA (Blue Zig Zag Openings) and connect it with a VGA cable. If your monitor only has the white DVI connector and your computer only has a Blue VGA connector you will need to go to the store (Best Buy, Walmart, Etc) to buy a small adapter that will convert DVI to VGA. If you ask someone for a DVI to VGA adapter they will know what you are talking about. I hope this helps.

A friends laptop is only showing a white screen

Step 1:
Fix a White Screen on an LCD Monitor

b>When an LCD screen has turned completely white, there are three normal causes: the screen is defective, the video cable is not connected correctly, or the graphics card on the motherboard of the computer is faulty. You will need to troubleshoot these possibilities to determine which problem you have. If you are not experienced in working on computer equipment, you should not attempt to disassemble your LCD screen because you could easily damage it. Seek professional assistance unless you have experience working on computer hardware.

Disconnect the white LCD screen from the computer by unscrewing the blue monitor cable. Connect the working LCD screen to your computer by attaching its blue monitor cable to the same slot. If your computer display does not show on the functioning LCD screen, try rebooting your computer. If it still does not display, the problem is with your computer's graphic card on the motherboard. Seek professional repair assistance. If your computer display shows normally on the working LCD screen, proceed to Step 2. Unplug the LCD monitor with the white screen. Disassemble the rear panel of the monitor with the small screwdriver. Carefully separate the screws into piles so that you can keep track of how to reassemble the monitor. Locate the internal video cable, a gray cable with a plug on the end that connects to the main components of the screen. See the References section for photos of the video cable for assistance. http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2008/04/13/laptop-lcd-screen-turned-white/ Unplug the cable, checking for any debris or blockage. Reconnect the cable firmly. Reassemble the LCD screen. Plug it in and connect it to your computer. If the screen is still white, you have a defective LCD screen. You will need to replace it or take it to a professional repair service for assistance.
b> b> b> Without this test you'll have to guess because as I mentioned before this could either bad motherboard or bad LCD screen.

You'll have to disconnect the video cable from the LCD screen (connector 2) and the inverter board (connectors 3 and 1). After that you connect another working screen and test video. For this purpose I'm using one of my test LCD screens. My test screen is cracked and because of that you see a wide white band in the center but it still works fine for this test.

The original screen is white but my test screen works normal (except the crack of course) and I can see the image. After this test I can tell that the problem must be related to the screen. After I assembled everything back together and connected the original LCD, it's still white. CONCLUSION. In my case this problem is related to the LCD screen and it has to be replaced. b> b>

I turn on the computer the cpu is working but the LCD monitor has no display fully black.

Please go through the following check list.
1- First of all you check the power of LCD screen. If there is any power indicator then it should come ON.
2- Check if the brightness control is not selected at the darkest setting.
3- If power is present on LCD then check the connection with the computer. Remove the connecting cable out from computer and re-fix it again. If you have the cable which also has connector on the LCD side then do the same on the LCD side.
4- If you have VGA connector then check if there is any pin bent inside the connector. The pins inside VGA type connectors are not so strong and some times they easily get bent while installing the cable.
5- If none of above work then finally check the LCD with another computer. If LCD works with other computer then there might be 2 reasons why it does not work with existing computer.
a- There might be some issue with PC hardware. You can check this by connecting some other monitor with the computer. b- The resolution selected on the PC might be not acceptable by the LCD. But in this case you should get at least some text on LCD when you turn ON the PC. I am not sure that in your case some text appears after turning ON the computer or after resetting it.

I have a Dell 1905FP monitor and the screen went black and the Self Test box is floating around. Rebooting does not help. Please help. Rich

Try deconnect and reconnect the screen to the computer. You can also try to use a different cable or port on your computer to connect it. Also, in the "video preference" of your computer, be sure you activate this monitor.

Check video cable and connection to computer. If the connection is fine, then this is either a faulty signal board, or a faulty LCD controller board.

How do I connect my Laptop computer to my LCD TV?

Every laptop has at least a VGA (computer video connection) and s-video cable port. A VGA cable is preferred if you want to be able to read text on your LCD TV. Check to make sure that your LCD TV has a VGA connector. It's a port that accepts a 15-pin connection so it's pretty easy to spot if it's there. It's just like a computer monitor cable if that helps. Should be able to find it at any local retail store that carries computers. VGA or RGB cable.
