Question about Intermatic T10404R - two 220 time clocks in rain tight box - Time Clock

My pool filter works fine until I try to plug in the sweeper and then it will not sweep at all. Is this a sign I need a new pump and filter?

Stop plugging sweeper in or you will burn out the pump.
If you are plugging sweeper into same circuit as pool pump, and pool pump is ON at the time and pump stops running, the sweeper is drawing too much amperage for pump to work.
If this is the case, you are burning out the pump by continuing to do so.

It sound like you need to add separate circuit for sweeper.

That being said, I am totally uncertain what equipment you are using or the amp load or breakers.
For complete answer at fixya, more information is needed.
What are you plugging into?
What size breaker feeds the circuit?
is this 120V or 240V?
What size wire do you have?
What information shows on nameplate of each pump and sweeper?
If you are uncertain of these things, or unfamiliar with electric wiring, then consider calling electrician.

I meant i plug the sweeper into the skimmer to sweep the pool. The suction seems great but the minute I put the hose into the skimmer hole to sweep the pool it will not work at all and the filter makes a strange sound like it is running then stopping.

I'm sorry, I am electrical-and-timer expert. Original question posted under timers led me to think this was electrical question. 1) The above answer could be correct to some degree, but I do not have professional answer for your pool equipment question. 2) Please re-post your question with specific details to see if another expert has insight about problem. 3) Also suggest contacting pool service company to glean information from that angle. 4) The fact that the motor stops running and things make noise is a red flag, and since pool equipment is expensive, you should pursue best answer.

Water comes out of the tail of polaris 360, but tail does not sweep.

check the filter in the wall of the pool where the Polaris line hooks up, it got a small filter in it. you are running it on low-pressure that's why it not sweeping, could also be a plugged impeller on the booster pump.

My pool sweep had been doing fine. Now the new pump seems to be dragging as if it is running on half power and the sweep crawls slowly. The pump gets hot and shuts off. The pool filter pump on the left...

My opinion is that new pump is defective.

You posted under Intermatic pool timer.
The timer will not have any effect on the new pump overheating.

Insufficient wiring can cause new pump to overheat.
However if wiring is undersized, and/or if both pumps are turned ON at same time, the circuit breaker would get hot and trip.

Instead of the breaker tripping, your new pump is getting hot, and turning off.
Remember, any pump that slows down and overheats is getting damaged.
Replace the defective pump.

A pump motor running without any flow of water is one of two things. The impeller inside the pump that is connected to the motor is broken or clogged. Open up the pump and inspect the impeller for debris or seperation and clean or replace as needed.

After two years of perfeft performance, the Legend Platinum start to misbehave. Whells runing at 23 to 25 RPM after cleaning the hose filter. Main pool filter runs at 23 psi, booster pump runs and pressur ...

If your RPM is low, you will need to increase pressure to the cleaner. If the sweep hose is laying on the side and not sweeping, you will need to adjust the screw that holds it on to get it to a gentle sweeping motion. It is also possible that you have too much hose weight on the pool cleaners sweep hose. Try removing some of the weight and seeing if that changes.

Pool sweep wheels are not turning

Problems with the sweep hose on these pools cleaners usually just means that you need to do some fine tuning. Start by trying to adjust the sweep hose adjustment screw. To adjust, turn off the booster pump and turn the screw clockwise to decrease motion and counterclockwise to increase. You might also need to replace one or both of your swivel ball bearings (part #D20).

280 sweep hose does not sweep-drags behind unit-unit works fine-cleans pool

Make sure that the opening at the end of your pool cleaners sweep hose is not blocked by the sweep hose scrubber. If this does not work, you will need to adjust the sweep hose screw as mentioned above. The only thing that I would add about that is to make sure that you turn your booster pump off before you make adjustments. Hope this helps! I have a copy of the users manual for this model. Let me know if you need it and I can give it to you.

Older Polaris doesn't sweep

If the unit travels normally and picks up debris as it should, there may be a problem with a feed hose inside . Separate the haed shell and inspect. often the plastic clamps finally give out and allow hose to pop off. Also check inner hoses for any swelling and possible slits. If the unit doesn't act in a friendly way then you have water supply issues and/or inadequate water pressure to unit. Check stream from wall with unit disconnected.
