You can try removing the battery and unplugging the power cable for 5 mins. Tried to restart laptop and log in.Make sure that numlock and caps lock is enabled if needed.I hope that you have a good back-up of file. in case this wont work forgotten windows password will lead you to re-install windows.

Reset administrator password

Terry, we need to know which version of Windows you have?
  1. Try leaving the password blank if you're trying to log on to the actual "Administrator" account. Just press Enter without typing anything when asked for it.
  2. Enter the password to your account. Often, depending on how Windows was setup on your computer, the primary user (YOU) account will be configured with administrator privileges.

I have a Dell latitude e4310 laptop my 10 year old has somehow changed the password and locked my computer. Can you please help

If you haven't set a password for the Administrator account you could try to log in as an Administrator then change your password back. First you need to change how users log on.

1. Click Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Click User Accounts
5. Click Change the way users log on or off
6. Deselect Use the Welcome screen
7. Click Apply options

Exit Control Panel. Then Restart computer, hold F8 when rebooting and choose SafeMode when prompted.

When Log on Prompt appears type in Administrator as user and leave password blank ( this is the Windows default password)

This will let you boot into Windows where you can go back to Control Panel, User Accounts and change your account password.

Then just reboot normally and enter new password.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

Try this solution to your problem

Start your computer
1. Keep pressing "F8" as the laptop computer starts.
This will start the computer in Safe Mode.
2. When the window "Advanced Boot Options" opens, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and confim by pressing the Enter key, then PC enters the Safe Mode.
3. Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need to input the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.

I have a Toshiba NB205, which is a netbook without a CD reader. I have forgotten my log on password and Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesn't do anything when I push it in the log on screen. Is there anyway to...

Try log in as Administrator account from Safe Mode. Reboot, after the first screen bios information, press F8 button repeatedly before the Windows logo come out, after that select Safe Mode At the Top one, after the boot, log in administrator account. Username: Administrator Password: -just leave it blank- When you logged in, go Control Panel, then User Control/User Account, then select the account which you forget the password, now remove the password.(or you can change it) Reboot your system.

My toshiba lap M305D-S4831 i foeget my password windows 7

If you have another account on your laptop that has administrator rights, log in into that account and change the password for your account. If you have an administrator account (even if you don't try putting in Administrator and leave password field blank) try using that account to reset the password, otherwise try one of the following:

- see this for Vista/Win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/What-to-do-if-you-forget-your-Windows-password
- if anything else didn't work you can use third party software from Hiren's Boot CD to reset your login password http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download.html

I CANT GET INTO MY LAPTOP!!! HELP!!!

Most of the time the default windows installations leaves the Administrator account active with a blank password to back door for cases like these.

First try logging in using username ADMINISTRATOR and don't type anything for the password. Click ok to see if that gets you in. If it does then you can go to your account settings and change the password for your default account. If not there may still be other ways but this is typically the easiest.

choose 'safe mode'
select 'administrator account' and leave the password box empty
you should be able to log-in to windows in safe mode
you can change your log-in password by going to control panel / user account

Reset passwords

Hello,
Try booting to safe mode. Press f8 upon powering the computer. It will bring you to a screen of startup options. Select safe mode. When it reaches the login screen, the administrator account will be visible as well as the other account you need the password for. Hopefully there is no password for administrator. Try logging in to the administrator account with no password. If this works, then you are lucky. You can now go into control panel, user accounts and select the user account that has the new password. You can then change the password to a new one.

Hopefully this works for you.
Thanks,
Lolita
