Blue screen of death could be caused by nearly anything, but it is mostly hardware related.

The easiest way to get rid of it is to completely reinstall your pc. New windows, new drivers and everything, but this doesn't always solve the problem. In that case i adwise you to take a look at your minidumps. Minidumps are the stoplog that windows creates when ever BDSO appears.
Look at this guide on how to read minidumps.

The minidump may be a bit confusing, but it should give a clue to what file or driver is causing the blue screen.

Please clarify what the blue screen stop errors are if you have ANY usb devices plugged in that could be it. if you are trying to install via a usb dvd drive try installing it to a different usb. also go to start, run type msconfig and shut off anything under start up that is not needed then reboot. also try installing in safe mode. after bios boot hit f8. please let me know if this helps! contact me back with the stop error if it doesnt.

Did you just install a new program or a piece of hardware, update a driver, install an update, etc.? If so, there's a very good chance that the change you made caused the BSOD:
Startup using Last Known Good Configuration to undo recent registry and driver changes.
Use System Restore to undo recent system changes.
Roll Back device driver to version prior to your driver update.

Scan your computer for viruses. Some viruses can cause a Blue Screen of Death, especially ones that infect the master boot record (MBR) or boot sector.

Update drivers for your hardware. Most Blue Screens of Death are hardware or driver related so updated drivers could fix the cause of the STOP error.

Return hardware settings to default in Device Manager. Unless you have a specific reason to do so,the system resources that an individual piece of hardware is configured to use in Device Manager should be set to default. Non-default hardware settings have been known to cause a Blue Screen of Death.

Return BIOS settings to their default levels. An overclocked or misconfigured BIOS can cause all sorts of random issues, including BSODs.

If this doesn't helps you then simply get the system utility program like PC Fresher that will fix windows errors that cause of blue screen

ThinkPad Blue Screen of Death

Sometimes the blue screen can be caused by bad memory, but if it is doing it right when you try to sign in every time, it is probably a software corruption in windows. I have solved this problem by doing a repair install of windows xp, I am not sure if is an option on other os, if you google it you will find directions, you boot off the windows install disk and this option saves your programs and data.

I have bios version 1008 on the computer. Should i update the bios version to the newest one? The fans are always running, they never shut down

Actually if your MOBO are working fine as of now no need to update the BIOS version. Updating BIOS version may affect some parts of MOBO so no need to update the BIOS version.

ii) they will provide BIOS upgrading software for your motherboard or what we call firmware upgrade.......

Note: sometimes u may get this software( u can download it) , otherwise u have to online update which            will do online BIOS update

I tried to install bios update because my comp was getting blue screen of death on the forms was like try that but 1/2 way threw blue screened now it wont Evin turn on??? how do i fix it now?

Unless you know someone with the exact same motherboard and they let you borrow their BIOS chip (unlikely) ...
you are screwed!
I take it you were doing the BIOS update while in Windows?
If you were in DOS, at least you would have had a backup to resort to - if you did not turn the computer off before restoring the backup.
Blue screens are more likely corrupt software than a hardware issue...a BIOS update is always risky especially for a newby.
You may be faced with getting a new motherboard and/or getting a repair shop to do the work for you.
If you purchase a GIGABYTE motherboard they usually have a Dual BIOS.

Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 installation problems

Hi speedfreak44, during the installation of windows one of the drivers did not install correctly & windows registry is messed up.
The blue screen is a typical response from windows. Even though you're windows installed SP2, there are another 89+ updates for SP2. (A reinstall with-out a format is not advised).
Suggest you enter you're bios & disable ACPI. This one I know for sure will show up in windows device manager as a PCI device with no name. Try again to boot windows. If it still fails to enter in standard mode than a complete re-install will be required including a format. Personally I do not use windows XP pro/home w/SP2 CD to perform the format, (After receiving a blue screen).
I have found it is 98% better to use the software tools, downloaded from the Mfg's web site for you're hard drive. Use the bootable software (On a floppy or CD), to format you're hard drive. Most Mfg's hard drive software will allow you to change the cluster size up. Windows standard uses a 4kb cluster size & you loose far more hard drive space. With a 16kb you loose only the file allocation or FAT, which is normal.
Than using the Win XP CD/SP2 install windows, clean.
(No need to format).
When finished installing windows, load the Gigabyte driver CD & install the chipset & other CD drivers. Turn on windows firewall & update windows SP2. (ASAP), (Save SP3 update for later).
It is in the updates of windows to iron out software & hardware driver updates. Do not install you're antivirus software until windows has finished updating its self & you install any hardware updates also through windows update. (Continue to leave the ACPI disabled in bios until updating is complete).
You can enable ACPI, antivirus software & printer software all.

You will find some needed software will install during windows update. Like; Quad Core processor update. With either home edition or pro it is advised to install .Net framework updates 1 at a time & only restart when prompted by windows. Other wise click the refresh button & continue windows updating. (You can save the .Net framework updates for last if you wish). You're video card may need .Net framework 2.0 or better for installation.
I am hell bent on installing windows once & correctly the first time. I understand you want to get this baby up & running but take the time & run the hard drive tools/utilities. (It's worth it)!

Good Luck speedfreak44!
If I can help you further, feel free to post.
Suggestions & comments welcomed.

Please let me know if this got you're system running without the blue screens?
One last item. It's also worth checking the dates on the Gigabyte CD to Gigabyte's web site before installing other drivers. Including the chipset drivers. You want to install the newest drivers the first time around. Here is the link to you're Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 motherboard main web site.
