1 Single VGA cable will connect into the back of your PC. Another power cable will be needed to plug the monitor into an AC outlet.

SOURCE: moved computer to new location. rehooked all. monitor wont start

Without seeing your make or model on you monitor it is difficult to give you any advice.
But with that said.. If your monitor is a flat screen there is a power cord that plugs into the wall the cord is connected to a small box (power converter) out of the box is a small connector that goes into your monitor. It is small and you may have to turn you Monitor over to see exactly where it connects.

Your computer will work whether or not you have Internet service.

HDMI cable connects to monitor but not to tower

HDMI cable has a specific design for specific purposes, if your tower is supposed to be used through a different port, use it, the other device is the one that will have to adapt to it. An "HDMI to other port" wire shouldn't exist, since it wouldn't bring the advantages of an HDMI wire.

Hook up to home pc

Today's laptops and desktop computers are more user-friendly. As more people start use computers, operating systems, software and hardware accessories are coming with better instruction manuals and streamlined interfaces. Here are a few basic steps to hook up your computer no matter which brand you bought.

Connect the power cable to the back of the computer tower. The male end of this plug is often on the computer, but it is recessed into the casing. Once this power plug is connected, you don't want to plug it into an outlet until the entire computer is set up. Attach the monitor cables to the back of the monitor and then to the back of the computer tower. This cable will probably be the VGA type, which has a wide set of prongs in the middle and two screws on the outside. Be sure to twist the screws in to ensure the cable has a solid connection. Secure the monitor's power cable to the back of the monitor and then plug it into an outlet or power strip. Attach the mouse to the USB port on the back of your keyboard. The keyboard then plugs into another USB port on the back of the computer tower. Turn on the computer and the monitor.

If the computer powers up but the monitor doesn't display anything, make sure the VGA monitor cable is secured. If the status light on your monitor doesn't turn on, check the power cable connection. Check that the mouse and keyboard work once the computer turns on. Now you can hook up other devices, such as a printer or a web cam. A printer often can connect to a USB port and also may have its own power cable; a web cam usually just plugs into a USB or firewire port.

Monitor not showing icon regularly

If you mean that your monitor isnt showing your desktop icons regularly, as in you mean some restarts shows your desktop icons and sometimes its just shows your desktop. Then the first thing i would look at is that is generally an issue that happens when both digital and analog cables are hooked up from the tower to the monitor. Look at the back of your monitor and see if there is two cables, one is the power cable, and there should only be one more either blue or white, that goes to your tower. If you do have more then that disconnect one of the video cables I personally would say keep the white one its a higher quality picture being the fact its digital. Hopefully that solves your problem!

Hooked up New Hp comp (tower only) to slightly new HP2007 monitor but there is no sound.Could you give me an idea of what I missed?

Make sure the audio cable supplied with the monitor is connected correctly. Make sure it is connected to the green (speaker out) jack at the back of tower and the same green (audio in) jack on the monitor. Also make sure the volume on both your PC and monitor is turned up and not muted

Monitor to tower compatibility.

It sounds like you have a DVI cable on your monitor. (See attached picture) If you go into radioshack ask them for a DVI to VGA connector. http://www.amazon.co.uk/2m-DVI-TO-VGA-CABLE/dp/B000K5O1M8 Let me know if the picture looks like the cable you have on your monitor. M
