You didn't specify the make and model of your calculator, so I can't give you an exact keystroke sequence.

The calculator doesn't care whether a number is a whole number or not. Just do the division.

On most algebraic-logic calculators, to divide 5 into 0.45, press . 4 5 / 5 =

On an RPN or RPL calculator, press . 4 5 ENTER 5 /

On most algebraic-logic calculators, to divide 5 by 0.45, press 5 / . 4 5 =

On an RPN or RPL calculator, press 5 ENTER . 4 5 /

If you still have problems, please reply to this post specifying the make and model of the calculator you're trying to use.

You must insert decimal point in equation to get a decimal point in the answer. whole numbers only give whole number sums.

It depends on what you need. If you divide 100 by 3 you'll get 33.333333333333333333333333333333 and a lot more 3's.

If you need it to be 2 decimals behind the comma your answer will be 33.33 if you want it to be 3 decimals you'll just end up with 33.333 etc. etc.

So it completely depends on what you need to calculate.

The whole number 8 remains the same, divide 21 by 50 to find the tenths and hundredths positions of the converted number. Hopefully this helps.

15 divided by 2 isn't a whole number.

To change from fraction to decimal, all it takes is a keypress. (change key)

.Not all decimal results (approximations) will be converted to fractions.

Anyway, if you want to set the calculator to display decimal results only,

Press SETUP

Press 2:EDITOR

Select 1:LINE.

Hi,

You are not dividing problems, you are dividing number. This said, there is a simple way to ensure that the results of divisions are displayed in decimal form: It consists in putting a decimal mark (decimal point) at the end one integer (whole number)

ex:

3/2. gives 1.5

3./2 gives 1.5

3./2. gives 1.5

You can also configure your calculator to display all numerical results in decimal format. To do that press [MODE][F2]. Use the down arrow to select the ligne**Exact/Approx**, then use the right arrow to unfold the menu options 1:Auto

2:Exact

3:Approximate

Select 3:Approximate and press [ENTER]

Hope it helps.
