Set the camera's release mode to one of the remote modes by pressing the release mode button next to the top panel LCD and turning the command dial. The Quick-response mode snaps a picture when you press the button on the remote. The Delayed-remote mode gives you a chance to hide the remote behind your back.

Fitting IR sensor om D3100

You cannot use the ML-L3 with the D3100. There are other wireless remotes available for this camera, though not from Nikon. There also are various wired remotes available, including the MC-DC2 from Nikon. There are no external IR sensors for the D3100.

The D3100 doesn't work with the ML-L3 remote. You need a MC-DC2 remote cord or equivalent.

How to use remote trigger to take a photo with Nikon D300

I'm going to assume you mean the ML-L3 remote. If I'm wrong, please post a comment specifying the remote you are using.

Set the camera's shooting mode to one of the remote modes. Quick remote fires the camera when you press the button on the release. Delayed-response remote waits two seconds to let you hide your hand behind your back before it fires the camera.

The ML-L3 is an infrared remote, so it must be pointed in the general direction of the infrared receiver on the front of the camera.

Describe how to use a remote with the d 5000 Nikon camera

If you're referring to the Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote, you need to set the camera's shooting mode to one of the remote modes. Quick remote fires the camera when you press the button. Delayed-response remote waits two seconds to let you hide your hand behind your back before taking the picture.

For full details, refer to your manual under "Shooting modes."

I have the nikom ML-L3 for my Nikon D40 and can't find instructions on how to make it work on my camera

Set the release mode to Quick-response or Delayed-remote, then point the ML-L3 at the receiver and push the button.

"Shooting Mode" is on page 32 on my D40 manual.

Set the release mode to one of the remote modes. Look in your camera manual under either "Shooting Mode" or "Release Mode."

I cannot get the ML-L3 infrared remote to work with my D300, their is no info in the manual.Any ideas

That's because the ML-L3 doesn't work with the D300, only with the less expensive models. Nikon has several different remotes available for the D300.
