Question about Karcher 2500 PSI Pressure Washer
Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
This is most often caused by the bypass / un-loader valve located on the high pressure output side of the pump. The valve will either have a stem type valve with a knurled locking nut or a cap. Both of them retain a valve and plunger with at least 2 seals. The valve pin and plunger stick in a dirty / corroded housing.
Your parts break down can be found here:
The items that are causing your problem is item 1, 2, 3 in detail B of the above link. You will need to remove these items and clean up the pump housing and all of the parts. Clean the pump housing thoroughly. Use a rolled up piece of fine grit sand paper if necessary to remove any corrosion or rough spots in the housing. As for the stem, o-rings and seals they must also be very clean. DO NOT use sand paper on any seals. Once everything is very clean including the spring you must lubricate everything including the pump housing with a liberal coating of #105 White grease that is available at any automotive parts store in small tubes.
After cleaning and lubrication, reassemble the unloader / bypass valve and re-install same.
This should make it work normally again IF all of the seals of item 1 are in good shape. If you discover a damaged valve / damaged seals (item 1) it must be replaced.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,

It sound like one of the valves in the pump is jumbed .Find out what kind of water pump is on the mechine it will say on in This is a relitively small mechine its good for wells 2.5 gal per munite Whats normanly happens it the cages for the valves and made of plastic and peices tend to braek off and stick in the valve most of the time if you take the cap off the valve head you can pull the peice out and it will work fine again Look at the pump you will see 6 caps on the pump body that can be removed with a large socket the problem is you need to remove them all one at a time to check them all because there may be more then one that is broken . You can also buy a valve kit for 60 or so dollars and replace all of the valves but you probably won;t have to . Why this happens it because your not suppose to let the mechine run at high RPMS with the trigger pulled so idal it down when ever you can when the trigger is not pulled . Iknow sometimes its not that practial what if your on a roof but this sounds like what your problem is i do a lot of powerwashing and rebuilt these things on the side . And if the pump is a MITI M pump it happens all of the time
