The tv usually turns on but now it won't. When it does turn on it makes a noise like a motor boat sound. The noise stays on until you shut the tv off. I'm not sure what it is I think it's the fan but

I would say that if there is a fan inside of it and it sounds like a fan bearing going bad then that is what it is. The reason for it not to be turning on anymore could be because whatever that fan is cooling has failed. Not sure.

2003 Nissan Xterra - Fan noise when a/c on

No that doesn't sound like the problem, the fan clutch locks up to cool the engine off due to the increased load of the AC system on the cooling system, so it locks up and gets much louder. If it didn't lock up the engine would overheat.

My samsung fridge/freezer is only 3 years old, just started making loud noise, then when the fridge is opened sounds like the fan making a loud noise that goes down and stops. Then not long after that...

Compressors usually make a thrumming/humming noise, so yes, this sounds like the fan. It could be something touching the fan blades, like ice or a wire. If you can unplug the fridge and remove panels near the fan, you may discover the problem.

My televiosion hs a rattling sound, it displays cooling fan 2 but the sound goes away after a short period of time. I have had a repairman out but the problem still isnt fixed after tow visits

Hi.

The rattling sound is usually coming from one of the internal fans. The fan may make noise because one of the blades is broken, because of dust or foreign objects in the fan or because of a defective fan bearing. If the noise goes out after a while then the problem is likely a defective fan bearing. If display is indicating that there is a problem with fan 2 then fan 2 must be replaced even if at the moment of testing is not making noise.

In my hp 61020 mt destop am facing the fan speed and noise is too high....any solution to this....

It may be just that the fan needs to be replaced.

More likely is that the computer cpu is overheating and the motherboard is ramping up the cpu fan speed to try to cool it, hence the high fan speed and consequent noise. This usually happens when the heat sink is clogged with a lot of dust. It could just be that the fan heat sink came loose.

It may be that it's just a noisy fan, in which case replace it with one that doesn't make as much noise.

1998 Chevy Prizm A/C and Cooling Fan Problems

Compressor could not work without cooling fan comming on.
Check compressor mounting bolts and belt placement on pulley regarding the noise.
But before we get to the a/c system repairs its important to have a properly working cooling system.

Is the car overheating ? It should if neither fan works.
If I recall correctly the fan switch is usually on the upper radiator hose coupling.
you may want to test the fan(s) its self. Remove the electical connectors fron the fan(s) , fabricate a set of jumper wires and run it from the battery. If this works the fan(s) are ok . If it doesn't replace the ones that don't work.
The coolant switch aka fan switch is usually tested with an ohmmeter . Use shop manual for testing procedure.
Test the a/c fan and engine cooling fan relays. (see shop manual for details)
Then I would start looking at coolant( correct mixture and thermostat2_bing.gif) although the thermostat is not likely to cause this.
If all of this still doesn't correct the problem it may be the ECU that monitors this system it may not be responding to the signal /voltage from coolant temp sensor to turn on the fan, (again nedd shop manual to test this)
Once you have a properly working cooling systemnow you can turn your focus on the a/c. Compressors either work or they don't.For you safety I recommend having the a/c system serviced by a ASE certified Technician or a tech's who legally can perform a/c service. Good luck

Is the laptop dirty inside?

If it hasn't been cleaned out regularly, with a can of compressed air for computers, more than likely it is.

Laptops typically have a poor cooling design. For one, everything is crammed into a tiny box.
For two, there is a small duct, (Air Intake Duct), that draws air in.
For three, laptops typically just have 1 small fan.
For four, the Air Intake Duct is located on the bottom of a laptop, or on the side.
This is an excellent (?) area to draw foreign debris in. Another word for foreign debris, would be CRUD.

Hair, Food Crumbs, Lint, Dirt, Dust, and so on.

A laptop's cooling systems primary function is to keep the Processor at a certain temperature. If the processor becomes too HOT, it turns off. (BIOS turns it off)
NO Processor, No computer!

1.The excessive fan noise can be that the fan is spinning at top rate, trying to keep the processor cool. It's having a hard time doing that, because the fan cannot draw enough air in. (Clogged Cooling System with Crud)

2.The excessive fan noise could be that the fan's bearings are bad.

3.The excessive fan noise could be that the Processor is running at 100 percent, (100%), and the fan is running at full speed, in order to keep the processor cool.
Perhaps caused by a virus, or some sort of anti-virus program, or running more than one virus program. (Installed a new anti-virus program lately?)

My 16-year old refrig makes a single knocking noise when it starts to cool. It sometimes makes that noise if it's just sitting there. Just replaced the fan assembly behind the freezer wall. It wasn't...

Just a thought..fan motors usually have some front to back play (looseness). When the fan first turns on ..it may make contact with something, however after a few blade revolutions, the air pressure will push the fan one way, and allow it to be quieter. If not the fan, the compressor will also have some starting torque possibly causing a knock.
