Are you trying to boot from a disk, if so.. Try F8.. if that doesnt work, try F2 and go into system and reorder the boot order and make the DVD drive above the Hardrive this will cause the computer to boot from the reformat disk, if you are trying to reformat from a partition, the put the partition first in the list, hope this helps.

Acer Aspire 3000 Help required to restore to factory

Acer does have a good support team, I think you would be further off getting the recovery disc, it comes with all the drivers eliminating guess work, and it is there if it is needed again.

Factory reset without using a disk and ALT + F10 doesnt work

his MIGHT work:

1. Click "Start," "Turn Off Computer" and then "Restart", if it is on. If your computer is off, turn it on by pressing the power button above the keyboard.
2. Press the "F2" function key on your computer's keyboard to enter the BIOS utility.
3. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Main." Confirm that the "D2D Recovery" is "Enabled." If the D2D option is "Disabled," scroll down to the option using the down arrow key. Press "Enter" to change the option to "Enabled."
4. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Exit." The "Exit Saving Changes" option will be highlighted. Press "Enter" to save the settings and exit the BIOS utility. Your Acer Aspire will restart.
Reformatting the Acer Aspire
1. Press the "ALT" and "F10" keys together while your computer is restarting and the Acer logo is showing to enter the Acer Aspire's reformatting utility.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts. Your laptop's hard drive will reformat and the original applications will be reinstalled. Your computer will restart after the reformatting process is complete.
3. Enter your name and other personal information when prompted during the Windows operating system setup process.

Yyou can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.

NOTE: This will erase all the data on the computer.

How to reformat a laptop w/o drivers available

If your hidden partition is still in tact you can use the recovery function.

When you boot up the laptop press Shift + F10 when you see the Acer screen.

If that doesn't work try CTRL + F10 or ALT +F10 or Fn to F10

If you just want to format then you'll need a boot cd from any Operating System. XP, Vista, Linux, etc.

Wont boot up

If youve formatted the hard drive then you need to purchase the recovery media for it.

But you could still try the hdd partition by holding down ALT and F10 on the Acer BIOS splashscreen on power up.

If that doesnt work then you need to by the disk(s).

How to reformat Acer Aspire 3002LCi Laptop Computer

Acer Aspires don't ship with Install CDs or DVDs, acer suggests that you create your own intall/backups with their empowerment utilities, I know this because I have an An Acer Aspire. A few questions if I may, first have you backed up your hard drive yet? Is there anything important on it, that if you lost it you would be upset? If so then I strongly urge you to backup any important files before you format, why is it you want to format? Please ask yourself these questions before you proceed, I don't believe any of us here would want to be responsible for showing you how to wipe out your hard drives data, so with that said I won't go any further till you have asked and answered those questions.

Hope this helps :)
