How to record from DVD to VCR

The simplest method to record VHS to DVD is to purchase a recorder which has both VHS and DVD. They are relatively inexpensive now. You simply connect the device to your television via coaxial or audio/video cables. Insert the VHS tape in one side and the blank DVD media on the other. Press record and soon you will be watching your old VHS tapes on your DVD player.

My memorex combo dvd & vhs player is not working right. can you help me? the vhs player works fine, but the dvd player display's a split screen on the tv with a large yellow box with the word PSCAN....

PSCAN is a short form for Progressive Scan - a line scanning format used for High Definition TV. Standard TVs use Interlaced scanning. On your DVD/VHS player, the VHS is an analogue signal recorded in interlaced mode so is fine for a standard TV. The DVD is a digital signal and cazn be processed for progressive scan output in order to produce a better picture on a High definition TV (or a TV capable of handling progressive scan). If you cannot to your TV via the HD outputs then you should be able to set the DVD player to output interlaced instead of progressive scan.

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

I dont really know whats wrong with it when ii try to get it to copy a vhs to advd it wont work?

I don't know what recorder machine you have or what your hooking up to do your transferring. You cant convert VHS movie to DVD by plugging in RCA jacks from VHS player to DVD recorder. DVD reads digital and VHS does not because it reads analog and out put analog. you have to covert VHS movie into digital in order to transfer to DVD. There is a program you can buy call Roxio Easy. great stuff, cost 59.00 buck for your desk top computer, everything you need is there to transfer VHS to DVD...hope that help some, good luck.

How to record a VHS tape to a DVD disc

Read your manual first to make sure the unit will do this.If it does chances are it won't record unless it has a decoder built in.Most VHS tapes have macrovision protection that prevents you from copying them.It will however, record homemade VHS tapes. There are decoders out there you can buy to enable you to copy VHS tapes.

Unfortunately, no, unless the DVD is not copy written material. Commercial DVD and VHS tapes have a built in copy protection called Macrovision. Basically, it prevents copying them with any Macrovision enabled recorder. All DVD and VHS players sold in North America are required to have Macrovision Enabled. Though there are certain players that get around this (such as the Apex AD-1500, in which Macrovision can easily be disabled), unless you research and purchase one of those specifically, you're not going to be able to avoid Macrovision, and therefore won't be able to copy anything to or from a commercial DVD or VHS tape. Hope that answered your question completely, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.
