Question about Fender Accessories Footswitch for Cyber Series Amps Amp Pedal

Open Question

Have a fender Ultra Chorus amp. Looking for a foot switch. Do you buy a 2 or 3 button switch? The ones I see for sale are for the ULTIMATE CHORUS. Are they right for the ULTRA? Thanks, RANDY

SOURCE: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe making popping noise

Ah yes, the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I have seen more of these in my shop than any other amplifier!! I have even sent recomendations for design changes to Fender about this amplifier.
Sadly, your amp tech may be correct: while the amp is within working specs, you can still have an issue with a bad socket. The cheapest thing to try is to replace the preamp tube(s) you think may be causing the problem. If the problem persists, it may need to be serviced on this issue (by a different 'certified Fender tech'). In defense of the last tech you had work on this amp, these amplifiers have a brittle design and do not gig or travel well (there are a minority of these amps made that do perform). Fender tried to do too much for the price on this model: best advice is to fix it, sell it and get your tone with a more stable model made by Fender (like the new vintage re-issues). Fender, like Marshall, has for years been having problems when they get too far from thier 'working reciepe' of what made them great companies.
You likely have a socket that needs re-tensioned, or a preamp tube not behaving. If it is not these, then a tech had to dive in the house of cards that is this circuit. Sorry for the bad news on this, but it is the truth. I only take on Hot Rods that 'appear' to be fixable. I am a development engineer, build amps from scratch and fix them for the local music shops, and my success rate is a dismal 60%-ish percent on these...
Thanks,-mike

SOURCE: i'm missing the volume pot and dont know which one

There are two volume controls. One is "drive volume" the other just "volume"

The plain volume control is a 50K ohm, linear taper.(A) old marking

The Drive volume is a 100K ohm Log taper.(C) old marking

Find suitablel parts at DigiKey.com or Mouser.com or find a Febder repair center to order the part.

From other than Fender, You may have to shorten the shaft with a hacksaw to match your needs.

Why is there no sound when I plug the guitar to the amp?

You first need to deterime where the problem is, in the amp or the guitar? Plug the guitar into another amp, and then another guitar into the amp. Also try a different cord. That will isolate were your problem actually is, then we can better help you.

How do you use a four way footswitch

Need more info. What kind of foot switch and what are you hooking it up to. For guitar they are used for switching distortion to clean on 1 switch, one for reverb, one for chorus, and possibly 1 for bypass. All depending on the amp you use, and what effect the amp has built in it. Some amps only have clean and destortion which make the other channels on the footswitch useless. Hope this helps.

Crate three button foot swich how do you connect it to the amp

The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe shows a 2-button footswitch as standard but I'm confused. This link shows it as connected to the amp via a mono cable ... FENDER Hot Rod Deluxe DeVille Footswitch which is impossible using two switches. Normally it's a stereo (tip, ring, sleeve) with tip to sleeve being one connection, and ring to sleeve the other. Good luck with this one.

Hooking up two amps together

Yes. There could be big issues depending on how you want to "hook" them together. If you are wanting to simply run them at the same time (play through both at once) you can get a cheap signal splitter from GC or Radioshack and run your bass to the input, then output 1 and 2 to the respective amps. That is your best bet.
Setting up two amps parrallel does not nessesarily add power. That is to say that your 150 and your 350 "hooked" together does not give you 500 watts. In addition, there may be some issues with running a powered signal from the first amp into an input that is not designed for powered signals. Try the splitter or an old fashioned AB box. Safe and a cool trick. You can also use a stereo chorus pedal and let the signal chorus between amps. Makes the bass sound huge! Try it and good luck.

MARSHALL FOOTSWITCH FOR DSL100 TROUBLES

Does your M foot switch work on the Fender? If you know how to use a multimeter you could check continuity by putting meter leads on plug of M foot switch(1 on tip, 1 on sleeve ) You should see a change in the multi meter when you depress switch. If so switch is good. Another easy test is with cap off a spare 1/4 plug -plug it in to foot switch jack.put a alligator or some such metal clip or wire and join(called short or shorting) the two inputs . If connecting and unconnecting results in switching then the foot switch is suspect. One fairly common thing is that foot switch and input jack are often sautered straight to a circuit board to save $ on production cost. Used to be all point to point where a wire was attached to 1/4" input and then wire went to circuit board or tubes. The wire has give, but not so with direct wiring to board. So the nut holding the 1/4" amp input gets loose(doesn't have to be loose for the following to happen) and a pull on the chord causes a break in the soldier and thus a break in the sound chain. Sometimes it will work intermittingly by putting a little pressure left, right, up or down on the plugged in plug. If so, it's the input jacks connection to the amp. If not it still could be that because putting pressure on plug may not be sufficient to affect a temporary reconnection. Since switch(the new one you made)works on Fender, but not Marshall I suspect the jack or foot switch circuitry past the input jack. If using some of the above the above tests leads you that direction, remove housing(unplug a/c power 1st ) inspect jack, wiggle it slightly see or feel a break then resodier from back side. You should be able to use the soldier already present without adding extra.

It plays for about 30 minutes and then just stops, as if overheating. After a cooldown period, it starts up again for another short period. Suggestions? Any recommended vents I could cut in...

The small Fender products often have a TDA2050 power chip in them. The chip is on a thin aluminum heatsink and is intended for light use. If you try to sound like a bass guitar amp with this, the chip will go into thermal protection mode. Cutting vents will not help very much, and pushing it to these levels will destroy the speaker eventually. If you need more power, buy a bigger amp. This one would be suitable for a 10 foot by 10 foot room.
