Depending on the motherboard configuration and the operating system the max could very well be 4GB. Could you provide a model number of the HP and what the operating system is please?

When you open the laptop the icons comes up very slow let's say the computer is very slow how can we upgrade it

Hi,

The best way you can upgrade a laptop is to upgrade its system memory to the maximum it can take. However before you spend any money make sure you know what the maximum memory your laptop supports and what kind of memory i it supports too. For example SDRAM, DDR and DDR2 memory modules.

If there is anything else please post back.

Regards.

Question about upgrading...

Hi,

Honestly In the long run you will be better off buying a cheap new laptop.

Dual core or similiar.

But lets see.
You can upgrade the cpu, memory and the hard drive.

The laptop supports Maximum of 72 MB of Ram by installing a matched pair of 32-mb memory modules in the memory upgrade sockets on the main board. Theres 8 MB build into the motherboard so you will have total of 72MB with 8MB on the board and 64 in the slots. Thats the maximum memory you can have. You could try a biger module at your own risk. (may not work)

the NeoMagic 2093 video controller is integrated and can't be changed.

What is the model of your LM? for example Lm M166ST
You should be able to upgrade to 166MHZ or more.

I don't know how big of a drive the computer supports, but Id guess atleast double? possibly more, I don't know whats the bigest size supported.
