First try logging in using the administrator account. If the operating system is Vista or Win 7 then administrator's account might be disabled.

1. Search on the internet for "Hiren's Boot Disk" download it and burn it to a CD. Boot off of Hiren's Boot Disk and look for the option that will allow you to reset the password on the computer. Follow the steps it shows and you should be able to either change or remove the password.

2. If there is no important data on the computer then try a "HP restore". Usually the owner's manual will tell you how to do so. It will tell you something like boot up the computer and press "F11" and you will be able to go into the System recovery options. Follow this link, but this will most likely wipe out all the information on the laptop and restore it to new (like it was out of the box)

Please rate if this helps.

Have no password reset disk? Except for reformatting OS, you can create a bootable CD/DVD/USB for Windows password reset, with this program Windows Password Breaker, effective.

If you did not create a password reset disc during the initial setup of the operating system then you have a couple things to try.

1) Try logging in as a different user, if there are any on the notebook, and maybe reset the password that way. You could try logging in with the username administrator with no password. This may or may not work depending on the operating system.

2) The other option is to boot up off a live CD like Hiren's boot cd to reset the password.

Create a Windows 7 Password Reset Disk to Reset Windows 7 Password Easily

More and more people today tend to forget or lose their Windows 7 password under such a high-pressure society. Then what would you do to handle with that should you experienced the same trouble? Actually, all you need is only a "password reset" disk. A Windows 7 password reset disk could help you to reset Windows 7 password and regain access to your locked Win 7 PC. Here we will share two methods to create such a disk with you. So let's roll it.

Method 1: Through Windows 7 operating system

1. Be able to log on Win 7 operating system with the password
2. A USB flash drive is required

Windows 7 was designed to be able to create Windows 7 password reset disk without any other third party tools. So if you forgot the password for your user account and was unable to log on, then you could use the disk to reset Windows 7 password. Now you could follow these simple steps to create one.

Step 1: Start your computer and log on Win 7 operating system
Step 2: Insert an USB flash drive into your computer
Step 3: Click Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> Create a password reset disk
Step 4: You will see the welcome screen. Click Next
Step 5: Select your USB flash drive. Click Next
Step 6: Type the login password in the password field. Click Next (now Windows 7 operating system should automatically create the disk for you)
Step 7: When the processes finish, Click Finish to exit

Now you have successfully created a Windows 7 password reset disk. And you will be able to use this disk to reset Windows 7 login password by following the whole processes of Windows 7 password recovery if you forgot Windows 7 password.

Note: One disk can only work for one account. You could not use this disk to reset the password of another user account.

Method 2: Try Windows 7 password reset software

1. An available computer with a CD/DVD burner
2. Windows password recovery software
3. A blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive

There is plenty of third party Windows password recovery software on the Internet. All of them were designed to create a Windows password reset disk. If you forgot to create a Windows 7 password reset disk when running Win 7 operating system before losing your password, then you may have a try on this method. The benefit of this method is that you could create the disk any time and do not need to know the Windows 7 password. Here we highly recommend Windows Login Recovery and will take it as an example to explain the procedures.

Step 1: Download Windows Login Recovery and install it onto an available computer
Step 2: Run the software and use it to burn a Windows 7 password reset disk (you could burn the file onto a blank CD/DVD or an USB flash drive)
Step 3: Change the BIOS setting of your locked computer to make it boot from the optical drive
Step 4: Boot your locked computer from the created disk and reset Windows 7 password

If you do not think these steps are distinct enough, you could also view the detailed user guide at recover the forgotten Windows password. By the way, the disc created through this way can reset the password of all the accounts instead of only one account.

Forgetting Windows 7 password is really a problem. But now you needn't worry about that any more. You could easily reset Windows 7 password with your Windows 7 password reset disk in the future.

Better try a new password? You con do it by creating a password reset disk. You need a USB flash drive for it. 1. Click to open User accounts. 2.In the left pane click create a "password reset disk" and then follow the instructions. 3.Now you can reset your password with this password reset disk. 4.Log on the computer and windows displays a "incorrect password". Click OK. 5.Click "reset password" and then your USB flash drive. 6.Follow the instructions. 7.Log with a new password. Hope this might help. I've tried this.

I forgot my adminstrative password for dell dimension 2400 pc (windows xp)

Forgot Windows XP password? The first thing which you check is whether you forgot windows xp login password or not. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forgot your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you See Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.
Windows XP and further versions also provide another method to recover forgotten Password by using "Reset Disk". If you created a Password Reset Disk in past, you can use that disk to reset the password. Or try free program called Ophcrack or Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0.
