Question about Planet Audio TQ402 Car Amp

1 Answer

I installed a planet audio TW402 amp in my car. i put this amp last summer. when i first put it in my car with an sony xplod sub. i had a very small 12 gauge power wire and ground wire. but still it worked fine. as the summer progressed and go much hotter i started having heating problems with the amp in my trunk. it would cut in and out as it got hot and cooled back down. as summer came to an end i started blowing fuses on the small power wire. so i rewired the power wire and ground wire with thicker 8 gauge wire. this fixed the problem with blowing fuses on the power wire. but now i'm having a problem with blowing fuses on the amp it's self. the amp has 2 20 amp fuses. i have replaces both fuses once. it worked for a bit after i fixed them. then after two days of not driving my car i get in and start it and after not even 5 mins it blew both of them once again. i don't understand what is happening. i bought the amp brand new.

It could have to do with how your speakers are wired. If you have 2- 4 ohm speakers and they
are both wired to one terminal (RIGHT OR LEFT) on the amp, you have a 2 ohm load and most amps are rated at 4 ohms.
Go to this site and use #58 on the right sidebar to see if you are wired correctly.

I Have a Sony Xplod 800 watt amp and 2 12 inch Sony Xplod subs

You should definately bridge them. Firstly, lay the 2 speakers face down next to each other. Note the connections +- +-. The first + will go to the amplifier. The next terminal(-) will be connected to the next speaker(+). Take the last(-) and connect to amplifier. Please note that your amplifier has a bridge section which is normally the first + and the last- on the two channels. Connect your woofers on the bridge.

My amp indicator is blinking blue and my sony xplod sub is not workin thru the amp but works wen i connect it in my other car how do i fix it so my light stops blinking, and my sub works again

yes you have a internal fault of the amp. the circuit that puts it into safe mode is bad and that is a very small chip on the board know as a op amp. needs to be repaired.

Will a SONY XPLOD XM1652Z 2 CH 1000 watts hold two 12in subs?

should do easily though you may need to employ the use of a cross over just incase something goes pop and burns you're car out when you park it after you've been hammering the subs.

I have 2 1100watt sony xplods will they run off a 1000 watt amp

yes it will work, but it will only put out the power to the sub that the amp allows, ie : 100 watt amp puts out 100 wats.
you can also try reconfigering your wire to your subs, if your amp is 1ohm stable and your subs you can come off the amp with a bridge and run subs in series or parralell, this will dramaticly improve the bass

Sony Xplod XM-1652Z Car Audio Amplifier cuts out when turned up loud

The best thing to do is to get a amp that is more watts than your subs, not the other way around, speakers are known to handel a lil more power but amps cant produce more power than they are capable of... your ground wire should be thick also, say 6 to 8 mm or so, and its best to put in a cap and an equalizer.
Cheers
