Question about Kenmore Progressive Bagless Upright with Inteli-Clean SystemVacuum

Open Question

My kenmore vacuum model 116.36933502. It has no suction. I have cleaned out every spot, taken off the back and still nothing. The motor runs but doesnt seem to be at full power. The agitator brush works. When it broke i seemed to smell something and since it has no belt. Does this possibly have to motors?

I had the same problem with my vacuum. I called in for technical service and was told to push the "reset button". It turns out that there is a small red button right next to the dirt indicator light. I pushed the button, plugged the vacuum back in and started it up and it worked like a charm! :) Hope this helps!

SOURCE: my kenmore beltless upright canister vaccuum doesn't spin anymore

Ensure the agitator is not bound up and can be moved manually by hand in both directions. Clean any string or binding material if you find it. Press the reset button on the top of the chassis. If it clicks, then you should try turning it on and see if the agitator spins. If it doesn't spin, I have had luck giving a sharp kick to the top of the chassis.

SOURCE: Kenmore Model 116 upright beltless vacuum, agitator will not turn

I had the same issue. The holder for the micro switch is very weak and will open up and allow the switch to come loose, and in my case the was not enough slack in the wire. I unplugged the unit, pressed the pedal and laid it down. Open up the bagger door and remove the bag and filter. Remove 4 screws in the bagger compartment, remove 2 screws by InteliClean indicator lights, remove 4 screws on the outside close to the light. You will be removing the blue upper case. Remove the upper case and look on the right where the lower agitator section pivots. There you will see a micro switch. I ended up lifting and tilting the lower pivot section to the side, repositioning the switch in the holder, and then wedging a full glue stick (not melting but wedging) between the white plastic housing and the switch holder. This added the strength needed to the switch housing to hold it in place. Put it all back together, install the filter and bag. This fixed mine. Good Luck.

Nothing going into dirt canister

Is there suction at the hose? If not it is either blocked or the suction fan is broken. If there is, then there is a blockage in the pickup section, something is lodged across the channel after the brushes and before the place where the hose plugs in.

I think there is a safety switch to prevent it from running with the canister out so hard to check for suction at the top of the motor/suction fan. Make sure nothing is over that part under the canister too! If you can figure out how to bypass the safety switch (if there is one), you should have good suction where the canister sets on top of the motor base.

This might help, it was posted on a previous problem but is the same issue you are having it seems: "Here is a possible solution. If the vacuum sounds normal when the green light comes on, then the issue is a suction bypass. Kenmore built a suction bypass in to help cool down and protect the motor should someone either never clean the filter, empty the canister or somehow manage to clog the hose. There is a spring holding the bypass closed and is overridden by vacuum suction. I guess the spring becomes weak, allowing high suction to pull it open which in turn reduces suction so it closes again. It can do this several times per second making a loud racket and slightly affecting performance until the sensor goes green, then the vacuum suction is too low to overcome the spring tension thus why it sounds fine then. The trick? The very hard way (what I did) was to open the vacuum, open the casing where the spring is and pull it apart slightly to increase the spring tension. The easy way is to put tape over the hole where the bypass is. The inlet is under the hose track on the back on the right side as you're looking at it. The hole is about the size of a quarter and you'll see fins across the hole. The tape would keep the suction. The motor would still pull back the bypass but since tape is applied, there would be nothing to reduce the suction thus keeping performance and reducing the noise. However, this circumvents the intended design so you do so only at your own risk."

Leaving bigger dirtier wet spots after cleaning

Sounds like the vacuum motor is defective or you have a clog in the vaccum line. Basically everything is running except the vacuum "Suction" cycle. Do you hear the "Suction" phase (light indicator) during operation when it loudens like a whine? That would be the vacuum phase. Is the dirty water reservoir clean, do you rinse it thoroughly when you empty it? Have you removed the hose assy and rinsed it out? I think it is still part of the auto cycle even if you don't use the manual tool.

Central Vaccum - Kenmore Model No 34330

Is there suction where the pipe hooks to the cannister? If so, then are all of the outlets without suction? Maybe the hose is plugged. If the hose is ok, and there is suction at the cannister, then **** up a small **** of paper, one for each room outlet, have a number on each piece of paper, Which ever one doesn't ,ake it thru to the cannasiter is the outlet that is plugged. You can use a plumbers snake to clean out a clogged outlet or even a clogged hose.

If the motors are running and sound ok, then there has to be suction at the outlet on the cannister. If the filter bag is old, it may be best to replace it with a new one.

Vaccum has no suction

Here is what we did to fix the problem of our vacuum having no suction.
We unscrewed the three screws on the back and took the hose off of the vacuum.  Then we took the hose outside and put the water hose through the vacuum hose and turned on the water.  After about 30 second the water pushed through a dust bunny the size of a fist and a marker.  Basically, the vacuum did not have suction because the hose was clogged with dust, etc.  After reassembling the vacuum, it worked just fine.

Hoover agility--poor suction, still!

When you remove the dirty water tank, on the machine, there is a screen that gets clogged and will prevent good suction, is this one clean? If it is, do you feel suction at that screen, if so then there is a problem with the tank. If no suction there, then you will have to check it over for a air leak or a bad seal.
