Question about Bosch Brute Breaker Hammer 11304

2 Answers

I have a bosch brute hammer drill, that just stopped working after 2 hours of breaking up concrete and rock. It is brand new, and worked fine to start with, but then gradually took longer and longer to start going. ' Now, it won't work at all. Any ideas?

Take it back as it is still under warranty. If there was anything you could do other than letting it cool down it would be in the instructions.( which you have since it is brand new.)

Bosch brute is made to work all day every day and will continue to do so if it is not over or under powered. If not powered correctly, motor will get very hot and burn brushes to point that auto stop feature will stop motor (brush will push away from armature, or burn switch). The hammer will overheat if too long or wrong gauge of cord is used. Also if run on generator with voltage /cycles incorrect. Under normal use, motor will not get very hot. Another problem with overheating is that the grease will melt out of range to do any proper lubrication. Chect switch first, then brushes. If brushes wore down to auto stop, check for damage to armature or field windings. If armature or windings were overheated and damaged, the motor will not turn up to proper speed and new brushes will burn very quickly. Good luck

I have a Bosch 18v Brute Litheon cordless hammer drill and impact. One of the batteries works just fine. The other one will not take a charge. The set is about 6 months old. Apparently it's been this...

you have a bad battery (defective) take the unit back to where you bought it and hopefully they will understand and exchange it out for you. If the dealer won't help you can contat the Bosch company, they typically will do an exchange even if you dont' have the receipt, (a courtesy exchange). You may have to pay to ship the defective battery to them. If you can prove when your purchased the system you will have less difficulty convincing them to give you a new battery. good luck with this, my experience with Bosch has been that they are a customer friendly company and should be willing to help you,as I would hope your dealer would

Makita HP1640 hammer drill dual mode - 2 hours

Exchanged Makita HP1640 hammer drill for a new one. The 2nd drill did the same thing in under an hour!! Will return for refund. Instructions say the Forward/Reverse switch must be in a full up or down position for the Hammer/Rotary switch to move; well, it is and the Hammer/Rotary switch still stops at a 1/2 way point between modes. Although I can still use the drill, instruction warnings say not to because it may potentially burn out the motor. I'll have to go with a different brand this 3rd time around. It seems to be a design flaw.

Bosch 1199vsr stopped working while drilling through concrete. The reverse works. Help

your tool should have a rotating reversing switch and the contacts for the forward rotation might be dirty or burnt. I would unplug the tool and remove the screw holding the back handle half on and look to see if anything is burnt or just dirty or bent. If you have an air compressor try blowing thru all areas of the tool. Let me know if this doesn't work you can also go to Boschtools.com and type in your model number on the left hand side after clicking on manuals.

Put the screw back in the chuck, tighten it up then back it out 1 turn. Take a punch, put it in the chuck and give it a quick hit with a hammer. That should do the trick.

Hammer drills and rotary hammers comparison

Basically yes. Lower power units are usually titled as "hammer drills." Higher power units, usually labeled "rotary hammers," tend to be larger and provide bigger impact forces. But there are a few differences that are worth knowing: The rotary hammer usually have a chisel only feature, for light chiseling and masonry removal. Rotary hammers also have specially designed chucks that only accept bits specifically designed to fit their chuck. The special chuck on a rotary hammer helps hold the drill bit and prevents it from slipping during use.
