I am getting Bad Disk on DVD's I try to play. I do not have the money to go buy a Disk Cleaner. I read to open and clean but could find where I read it the other day. I also read to use a can of computer Dust remover, will a blow dryer work? Just Askin :-) I have the screws out of it but cannot get it removed, its like something in the front is holding it.

The laser lens or 'eye' will be near to the centre of the disc tray - but not dead centre. You will see it if it sits on a block (with the spindle motor nearby). Obviously the tray will be just above the lens. It is the only 'eye' in the whole unit.

Just keep in mind how your player is assembled prior to removing any covers to clean the lens.

Hopefully you will be able to clean this carefully and easily. I recommend that you gently clean the disc tray as well. There should already be a tip on FixYa about cleaning DVD drives and laser lenses.

Generally, I don't recommend that users disassemble DVD players to clean them. This should really be done by a skilled workshop technician with access to proper facilities and equipment.

In any case, if you know how the unit is put together before you go further, you should have no problem re-assembling it once clean, and it should work fine. Costs you nothing to try it but be warned about the potential risks involved; and do not attempt any service or look at the laser while the unit is plugged in.

I am not sure why you proceeded to take the player apart - is there a second problem with it that you haven't mentioned?

My CH - DVD 300 sticks a lot when playing. Otherwise it is fine. Do you think this is just the disk that needs cleaning or should we buy a DVD cleaner disk?

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.
To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.
Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.
If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.
To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.
Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.
Good luck.

Just Loading - Bad Disc

Normally I would say clean the laser lens, but I actually had the exact same model with the exact same problem, and that didn't work. I was able to get mine to work sometimes by turning it off and on and unplugging it, but even after opening it up, re-lubricating the gears, and replacing a few capacitors near the reader, I never did find a permanent solution.
I guess this isn't what you wanna hear, but I think its an untraceable problem with the motherboard.

Cyberhome 300 not stuck on main blue Cyberhome screen

It may not be able to read the DVD because the laser is dirty. First try to reset the system ( with no disc inserted, open then close the disc tray and hold the stop switch on the UNIT NOT THE REMOTE for six seconds). Then with the disc tray open using a can of "AIR DUSTER" - dry air in an aerosol can, insert the can nozzle into the disc tray cavity and spray away. That may blow off any dust on your laser eye. Try it again and if it still wont work, unplug the unit and remove the six small Philips screws that hold the cover on( it pivots up and off from under a lip in the front panel), plug it back in and open the disc tray exposing the laser and clean the lenses with Isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip. Do this GENTLY you don;t want to disturb the laser alignment. Dry with another Q-tip or the Airduster and re-assemble. Note well the unit will be POWERED with the cover off so BE CAREFUL. Just did this with mine and it now works like a charm again.

Dvd stuck in player how do you get it out

make sure you are unplugged or you will get the shock of your life when you do this...locate all screws pertaining to opening up the case...once the top is will see the armature for the dvd-laser...remove the screws holding the laser/armature..carefully take it off...take disc out..reassemble the armature and put everything back together. disc out......or.....take it to a tv repair shop and they can do it for you and charge you for it.
to do this yourself is very easy...(doing the job yourself)

Tries to read DVD, but after a minute or so, a question mark pops up...what's that?

It is not reading the disc. You can remove the cover and clean laser glasse eye with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. If cleaning doesn't work, then the laser circuit will need to be replaced.

Shows "Loading" but won't play

You can try cleaning the laser head and drive carriage. Clean the laser head with cotton swabs and small amount of isopropyl alcohol.Rub the swab back and forth across the head of the laser, do not apply to much pressure or you knock the laser out of alignment.Check the carriage, clean the the guide rails and check the belts and gears. All should be cleaned and checked to see if still in functional condition. if all this does not help you with your problem ,then the laser unit has probably weaken through age and can no longer function properly. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Cyberhome DVD Player not playing CD

I had a similar problem, and I took the player apart to find that there was a motor that has a snap-in connection to a circuit board and it was just disconnected. It controlled the movement of the reading laser. I could hear it make some noise. I reconnected it and it worked fine. There are quite a few philips head screws to remove to get into the case. It slides off the back. Once inside, it's very simple looking, it is really un-intimidating. You may have 4 more very small screws to remove directly on top of the DVD tray. If you need to take it off to see under the tray that is. I'd like to guess the problem is that the motor that ejects the tray is disconnected.
