There is a button near the touchpad that is a mouse lock for if you are going to be doing a lot of typing. Click that button and the light will turn off.

Hi! I have the solution! I know it's really late. double tap the light with your finger.
on the touch pad in the upper left corner, the light is glowing, when you double tap it it will lock the mouse pad. do it again and it un-locks it :)

My hp probook 4520s mouse pad locked what can i do

Hello,

There is a touchpad lock on this laptop. When the lock is activated, you should see a yellow/orange light on the touchpad. Simply tap twice where the light is and the touchpad will be unlocked.

Hope it helps.

My hp 4520s probook's mouse pad got locked accidentally, and it's not unlocking by double tapping on the light button on the mouse pad. please help me with this asap.

First, try double tapping the light again. You may have just mis-tapped.

Next try restarting the laptop. Certain laptops re-enable the track pad on restart so long as a USB mouse isn't connected.

If that fails, navigate to the Mouse Settings on your PC and re-enable it there. If you have a USB mouse you can use that. If not, you can use the keyboard. Windows Key will launch the Start Menu, arrow keys can highlight options, Enter will click on them, Control+Tab and Control+Shift+Tab will switch tabs (in a window that has tabs).

In Windows XP and 7 (and probably Vista), Mouse Settings is located at Control Panel > Mouse > Settings.

Mouse pad is locked how do I unlock it?

hi
your track-pad mouse has a horizontal bar-shaped button above it with an orange light next to it, try pressing that button. The light should turn white and your mouse should begin working again.

Internal mouse will not move and lights are red/orange

this might be a problem with the mouse lock..
check ur mouse lock button just above the mouse pad.
if its locked, unlock it & try again.

if its not locked, then go to device manager via right clicking My Computer, properties
select mouse device & expand the tab
uninstall the mouse, dont worry it can be done without mouse.
now press the windows key from keyboard, and restart ur system via pressing Start key, +u, +r for windows Xp & for Windows Vista, press ALT+F4 then select restart.

After ur machine boots up, it will automatically detect the mouse & reinstall the required drivers. its done

if u like my post, pls rate me.. i really need some good ratings..
Thanks

On my HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop, the mouse has suddenly stopped working. It won't move in any direction. I restarted it, and it still won't move.

Sorry to hear about your mouse problems..
1st. If you are using a Pavilion DV6000 series unit, their is a Push Button Switch on the top center of your mouse pad.
When the mouse is enabled, the light off to the left of the switch is Blue. When disabled, it will be amber or Orange.
If this has helped your problem, No need to go any further !..
If you still have the same problems and the light is Blue, You will have to reload the drivers for that device.
Please drop me a email and let me know which it is. ??
Hope this has helped you with your problem.!!
Readers, Please rate your technicians, agree or disagree, it lets us know you are reading the information you have requested.
