If it is the original chain from the manufacturer, it is not too long, you do not have it routed correctly. Check and correct the routing and the chain will be just fine.

My chain has a dent that causes the chain to skip gears while riding. I believe that I need a new chain but I am unsure of size of chain needed for a 15 speed parowan next women's mountain bike. Can you...

No, you don't need to contact the manufacturer. There are two possible solutions. First, if the chain is sized one full link (inner+outer) too long it can just be shortened. The other option is a new chain (made for 5 gears in back) but a new chain will not always mesh with the gears if the bike has a lot of miles on it, especially if the small gears in the back have been ridden a lot. Either way I would really suggest you get some local help, as sizing and installing a chain requires both knowledge and a specialized tool.

When go to cut engine is runnig but chain stops when touch the tree

Hi Pam:
Using chain saws takes a bit of getting used to, and it can be DANGEROUS.
- The chain must be sharp to be able to cut properly, and a sharp chain "bites" into the wood.
- Before you touch the chain into the wood, you have to speed up the engine. This takes some getting used to.
- Try this technique: With the chain about an inch above where you want to cut, squeeze the throttle about half way so the chain is spinning. Touch the chain to the wood and increase the engine speed as the chain starts to cut. The harder you cut, the more power you need to apply.
After a while it gets to be second nature.
Work Safe, and get an experienced friend to help with some "hands on" coaching.
Cheers.

Can I use any bike chain to replace lost rear chain?

I 'm not an exprt on bikes but the chain depends on the gears. If gears are same, you can use the same chains. So, all you should check if chain fits gears.

How to repair a broken chain on multi speed bicycle

to fix a broken chain you need a chain breaker tool to push the pins out of the links. Park makes a great one (Park CT-5, probably get it off of Amazon) for about $15. You can use the tool to remove the broken link(s), once removed, line up the good ends with the tool and push the pin back through. The link will be stiff, so you need to flex the chain laterally with your hands to loosen it up where you joined it together. DO NOT use a "master link" to join the chain together from a "single speed" bike, these will get jammed in the derailleur and cause more damage, and they are usually to thick for a multi-speed bike. Check out a repair manual or YouTube for details.

How is the "ten speed"

I am answering, but hoping this is not a trick question. ALL Bikes from that time period had two shifters, one the speed gears and one to represent the Hi-Low Function of the gears. In other works, when shifter one was move, it moved the chain on the front sprocket to the Low Gear ratio, Which would translate on the rear 5 piece sprocket as gears 1-5. These were change by slightly moving the second shifter, which in turn would move the chain a slight bit and onto the next sprocket in the line. You could go in any combination of gears from 5th to 1st from 1st to 6th, all by moving the correct level, which would move the appropriate chain guide and mode the chain to the correct sprocket. Let me know if that helps at all. I tried to remove the technical in order to keep it simple. I can make it harder and more technical if you would like.

If you are trying to get to a certain answer, please do not hesitate to ask any question, other than where to get parts, cause that part of Huffy's business is no more and Huffy, really isn't the same Huffy as was in 1989. No really, different organization all together, they basically sold the name and ops.

I need to remove chain on a 26" mans speed bike Is there a king link or a removable link?

No, to install or remove a chain on a bike with derailleurs (gears) you need a special chain tool to "break" the link. goto your local bike shop and they will have a few different ones to choose from depending on how often you will want to do this procedure.

Different chains require different tools and price varies from $10- to over $100. Also you should get a little instruction on how to reinstall properly, if you don't do it right the chain will break when you go riding and could cause injury.

Chain Broke on a Huffy Tundra 18 speed 26" bike. I need to know the size chain to replace or the master link/chain connector to fix the chain.

if the bike has gears it does not have a master link, that is for single speed bikes only.

You will need an 8spd chain for your bike (1/2" x 3/32), these will fit any 6,7 or 8 spd bike. This requires a special tool to install ($8-$25), I would recommend taking into a bike shop and have them do it if you have no experience with this type of chain.

Side note: if you do own the tool, you can repair a broken chain for a temporary fix in the future, so may be worth buying. Check around, many bike shops offer basic repair classes and cover this.

My grandsons bike chain broke. Went to the store to buy a new chain. On the back of the package it said I needed a chain rivet extractor and of course, the store didn't carry that tool. How can I fix...

You should go to a bike shop, they can sell you a master link, and keep your own chain. Is your grandson's bike a 1 speed or a multi speed bike, if it is multi then you need a chain tool. Bike shops can do the job cheaper than you can buy the tool and it will be done right. Take the chain back to the store that didn't carry the tool.
