Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to try and upgrade my Inspiron 710m to the specs I need to run a MIDI instrument/music software bundle. The needed specs are: 512 MB RAM; CPU 2 GHz (Multiple cores recommended). I would like to upgrade the processor to the highest capacity, and might be willing to upgrade the motherboard itself if necessary depending on whether it's cost effective. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance for your help. RQ

I recommend buying a new one instead of upgrading individual parts.
Changing the processor can get too expensive and risky for a laptop unless you do it yourself and know what you are doing. Changing both the processor and the motherboard is pretty much buying a new one.
Looking up the specs of Inspiron 710, it looks like you're going to have to upgrade both.

I have a casio privia px-130, and I'm trying to use it as a MIDI on FL Studio, but it won't show up in FL Studio. Is there a driver that I have to download?

Check the midi channel. It needs to sync to FL Studio. Channel settings you'll need to look up in the privia manual...can be laborious - but worth it in the end :)

If it has 2 fuses, the second one might be blown. Try replacing the fuses, if its not that then there is a problem with the amp and you will probably need to take it for repairs.

I have an older keyboard. None of the G or G flat keys are working. Is it worth fixing or just get a new one?

Most likely it is not worth it fixing it. You can probably get a new model with more features for about the same price of fixing this one. Let it go anf upgrade. That is the reality of electronics and technology.

ALWAYS to answer your question, refer to the "MIDI IMPLEMENTATION CHART" for your MIDI instrument.

This chart can be found USUALLY near the end of your user's manual.

This chart, among other things, will tell what can be transmitted and received by the MIDI device.

Refering to the chart for your DX21 it shows that the DX21 can both receive and transmit program changes.

If you don't have a user manual, download one here:

Drums for MIDI track to not work

I haven't ever used this program but it sounds like you have your MIDI channel assigned to the wrong number. The default MIDI channel for drums is channel 10. Assign the track you are trying to play drums from to channel 10 in your program.
