Question about Panasonic CFY7 C2D/1.8 14.1SXGA 1GB-80GB WLS DVD BT WV (CF-Y7BWAZZJM) PC Notebook

1 Answer

CF-Y7 After you start using the notebook for a while the fan starts making noise (sounds like the fan increases in speed and is noisy). There doesn't seem to be much heat coming out of the vent, just the sound. Is this normal?

There are intake vents on the bottom of the notebook. Make sure these vents are not obstructed by putting the notebook on a flat hard surface when in use. You may also want to get a can of compressed air and clean out the notebook. Just spray the compressed air in the intake vents on the bottom and spray in the exhaust vents on the sides.

Also, make sure there is no CD/DVD in the optical drive. Sometimes these will spin and the sound can resemble a fan.

How can I fix My 2006 Honda pilots noisy Ac fan .

You have one of two problems causing a noisy heater fan. The bearing in the fan motor is getting bad or something has fallen down into the heater box ( napkin/paper) and compromising the spinning of the fan cage. You will have to remove the fan assembly and inspect for foreign debris and/or bad fan motor bearing

Check for dust in the fan, The fan in my old Toshiba was noisy too at the start but once up to speed it was quiet. I bought a replacement fan and fitted it. Easy to do as the noise was starting to irritate me.

Hello there! Noisy Sounds can be much frightening, but if you could determine from where the sound is coming on you will get the solution, the sound makers inside a pc are mostly fans, and what type of sound you are actually hearing, rattling sounds means some wires touching up the C.P.U Cooler fan, another one could be a loose fan on the SMPS. Solution to this is to Check all the Fans Do so by
1. Remove the Cabinet cover on one side and Start the machine and try to see and determine what actually is making the noise, rattling sound could be a wire or something touching the fan, if its okay, then listen for the SMPS fan.
Hope this Helps.

I used the fn then f4 button to mute my panasonic cf-y7

When booted into windows just hit fn and f4 again. That should unmute it. You can also look at the toolbar at the bottowm right corner. You should see an icon that looks like a speaker. Right-click and check to see if mute is checked. If so just uncheck it.

Compac Presario F700 makes constant humming noise

Sounds like its the fan . The more demand you place on the system makes it run hotter so the fan speed automatically increases to compensate

ASUS Lap top computer, 2 months old' makes loud fan type noises at each start up.

Hi

Its normal for a laptop computer or a desktop computer to spin its fans at maximum speed during start up - its part of the power on self test.

If the fan is very loud like on this video the sound is very bad -

that would be a bad fan, constant bad noise. but if your fan only makes noise in start up, its normal.

your warranty should cover the replacement of the fan if its bad.

CPU fan issues

The fan may not stay on all the time - its a feature of laptops to help save power. The fan is also variable speed. As the CPU gets hotter, the fan speeds up. When the CPU isn't being used as much and is cooler, the fan slows or even stops. It turns on to full speed when you first turn the laptop on as part of the BIOS system check.

The noise is another issue. You could have a broken "fin" or fan blade. The bearing could be going out. Something may have simply "crawled" inside the fan's output vent. In any case it may be worth your time to have a professional open up the laptop and look at the fan. I have heard a LOT of noisy laptop fans in my day, and believe me it's not the worst thing to put up with.

Noisy fan after a few minutes start up

Yeah. i had this problem too. the fan is noisy because it is garbage. it needs to be replaced if you want to get rid of the noice. you moving the laptop wen the noise first started is just coincidence. the heatsink is fine, but the fan itself is poorly made. The ball bearings get loose and so the fan doesnt stay in its vertical plane and it kind of shakes a little, thats why it makes the noise. if you open it up and turn your laptop on, and wait for the noise, you will notice that if you push down lightly on the center of the fan, the noise goes away, because you are creating pressure at it's center of gravity point which makes it stop wobbling. you wont see the wobbling with the naked eye, because its much to slight to see, but its definatly enough to make that annoying fighter jet take-off noise..

as far as the noise, thats the sound it makes when something is wrong with the battery (if you ever drain it all the way down and try to boot it, it will make the noise) kind of messed up noise in my opinion, but its not a big deal, as long as it doesnt repeat.

for the fan, you dont need to replace it if you dont use your laptop a lot, you can try to keep your laptop cooler to keep the fan from turning on also. i suggest one of those USB fan pads that you put under the laptop, or a thermal pad, thermapak makes one for $30 i think, and it drops temps by 6 degrees celcius they claim, i dont know exact numbers but if def helped me. you can also try to put something in the back to keep the back elevated (where all the heat is) and the fan wont spin as much.

i know with desktop fans that get lots of use, noise is the 1st sign of fan failure to come, but ive been using my laptop with that god awful noise for about 4months now, and its still alive and kicking.

good luck!

Cpu fan noisy/chip fan fail error messages

pils,

Yes. This sounds like a fan issue. The noise often comes from bearings failing within the fan. Also, a failing bearing can make things harder on the motor as it brings the fan up to speed. This is likely the reason that you see increased warnings during the fan speed check while booting because it comes to speed more slowly as bearing wear increases.

I give this a 90% chance that your CPU fan is causing the issue. Since a decent CPU fan will cost you ~$20 online, it's not much out of your pocket if you happen to uncover another culprit.

I'll keep an eye on this post. Let me know how things go.
