Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. Yes it would be the easiest though if the system is not on warranty there will be charge to the new hard drive. If you can still access the file just back it up so that you can restore it on the new one.

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya.

Toshiba satellite notebook error 10-FC06-000D system windows vista

When dealing with this error (10-FC06-000D) message in Toshiba unit is very comment in the L300 series, I don't know if Toshiba is using cheaper hard drives or what but I see a lot of them with the same problem. If you have a Toshiba unit got to their website to check if your unit is still under manufacture warranty if it is you have some options send it to Toshiba direct they should cover the shipping but I'm not to sure, or take it in to any Best Buy or Future shop stores with your proof of purchase and they will send it out for you. This is a hardware problem that is related to the hard drive, I wiped the hard drive and all it's boot records still unable to reinstall the OS OK, I finally decided to use a test hard drive to reinstall the OS worked fine so there is something wrong with the hard drive that most likely would need to be replaced

Recovery wizard error codes 10-fc12-048f and 10fc12-0037

Windows files has been corrupted, or the hard drive has issues. This is where a backup recovery disc would be ideal, this would prove hardware issues. At this point have the hard drive tested for errors and bad sectors to see if replacement is required.

Getting error code F3 F100 0003 on a Toshiba Satellite L650 running on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit operating system. This code appeared before hard disk drive was replaced and continues to appear after a...

Hi Lea,

If you're getting the F3 F100 0003 error on boot-up, the problem might lie on three things. It's either the a bad HDD, Memory, or the video adapter (which is soldered on the motherboard). Since you already replaced the HDD, the problem might lie on the other two. If you can burn a disc to run diagnostics on your computer, you can use UltimateBootCD or Hiren's Boot CD (more info on the tools here).

I've also seen some errors when you are trying to re-image the HDD using the Recovery Discs and it may have some connection to the error message that you're getting. Here's a list below:

-An error has occurred: ERROR : 10-FC10-1710" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive.--An error has occurred. ERROR : 10-FC12-0241" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive or defective memory.
-An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-045D" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive.
-An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC06-0002" -- may be caused by damaged recovery media or faulty hard drive.
-An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-0970" -- may be caused by defective memory.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

I recieved error 10-FA12-045D after trying to restore factory state on my toshiba satellite C655 laptop

Error codes starting with 10 on Toshiba laptops point to a hard drive failure. The drive is most likely dead and cannot be revived. You will need to replace the drive and then reinstall the operating system.

Error : 10-FC12-0002 comes up during Toshiba system rocovery what does it mean and how do i fix it?

I download this from the Toshiba support site:
While running a full system recovery from the Recovery Media, the installation may fail -- and display one of the error messages listed below. Possible causes of these error conditions are listed at right. Use this list as a troubleshooting guide -- not as an absolute list of causes, as there may be others.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC10-1710" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-0241" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive or defective memory.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-045D / 10-FC11-045D" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive. *****
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC06-0002" -- may be caused by damaged recovery media or faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-0970" -- may be caused by defective memory.
*for this error 10-FC12-045D u nid to call 1-800-457-7777 toshiba advance technical support they will send it to depot or they will recommend ASP (Authorized Service Partner)

I suppose your recovery disks could be bad. You can get another set from Toshiba. I'm also concerned about the health of the hard drive. Did you need to run recovery because the system crashed, because it may not have been an operating sysem crash but rather a hard drive crash. Have the harddrive or whole laptop checked by a reoutable repair person or check my website: www.micromendllc.com

Toshiba L300 with Launch Startup Repair Recommened on bootup.

If the hard drive is clicking then likely it is dead. I would call toshiba and warranty it. If they say its not under warranty then a hard drive should be no more than about 150 depending on the size

Toshiba latop 0201 #ide problem

IDE #0 is your primary hard drive.

Toshiba's System Errors indicate that the error 0201 Failure IDE #0 may be caused by bad contact points where the drive plugs into the laptop chassis. Toshiba recommends pulling the hard drive in and out several times to clean up the male/female contact points.

Toshiba also said that if this doesn't work to contact one of their service centers for assistance.

The contact points solution rarely works, but is worth a try. Most likely, your hard drive failed and needs to be replaced.
