Question about Canon imageCLASS D860 All-In-One Laser Printer

Lines on copies

When I use the feeder for multiple copies, the copies come out with two lines about a 1/3 of the way on the inside of the page, but the lines are not present when I place the item to be copied on the glass! I can only assume it has to do with a feeder problem. I've tried cleaning all of the moving parts that are visible but nothing has worked. Is there a solution to this problem?

Exactly as described - Black lines vertical on copies, scans, or faxes ONLY if I use the auto-feeder. BrotherMFC-7420. Could it be something in the AC power? The light dims on and off in the room when I use the machine. However, that has always been the case and the problem only appeared recently.

Went thru Brother tech support on this one. Grab a lint free rag and isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.
Clean the entire glass on the flatbed. On mine, there is another glass strip to the left of the flatbed about an inch wide, which was the culprit. It had a bunch of gorp on it. Clean! Had to use my fingernail. Then clean the plastic strip where the paper comes out on the underside of the ADF. More glorp, more fingernail. Presto! No more lines.

When I copy there are black lines across the page. I changed out the cartridge for a new one, but it still makes the lines.

Lift the copy bed cover and locate the **** glass (it is about 1" wide and sits on the left of the large glass)

Use a microfiber cloth, and a bit of water, and remove the debris from this **** glass. Make sure it is clean, then clean the white bar on the underside of the top cover (It will sit on that **** glass)
take a blank piece of paper and copy it through the feeder, if you have lines on the page that prints, you need to look harder for a spec on that glass. a small dot will create a line on any document fed through the feeder. A dot on the large glass will print only the dot as the paper is not moving over it.

Black lines down on printed page

This is caused by dirt/debrise on the ADF (automatic document feeder) scanner glass. You need to open up the feeder where your originals are fed in and look for a strip of glass that runs from front to back. It is about an inch or so wide. You need to clean this glass to get rid of the lines. Some models have this glass just to the left of the large main glass, but in your case I beleive it is in the feeder itself.
Good Luck.

Xerox WorkCentre 4150, 3 vertical white lines in all feeder scans

the problem is in the scanner, open it up and see if you can find any smudges, and clean any obstruction, any ink, liquid eraser residuals, can cause this part to appear as lines on your copied faxed image.
dont concentrate on the printer this is a scanner problem

Two lines, one on each side of copies made from feeder and faxes

Try cleaning the rollers inside the scanner including the glass inside and out with a soft damped cloth. Look also for a piece of paper, staple wires, paper clips or pencil lead jammed inside the rollers or somewhere in the corner.
Also, look for a foreign object or substance on the cold cathode tube light and clean it. Try also cleaning the mirror.

Lines of copies utilizing automatic feeder

look to the side of your big glass and you'll see a piece of glass about 1.5" wide. thats the galss that is used for scanning from the feeder. theres got to be something on that glass. possibly white-out or even a small speck of toner can cause that. look closely.

Print Problem - vertical lines

If the problem only occurs when using the document feeder, the problem is not usually caused by the drum. When using the document feeder, try to notice where the scanner (the light assembly under your scan glass)stops just before the paper is being fed. Some multifunction machines have a small piece of glass that is separate from the large scan glass and the scanner assembly stays parked underneith it as the original is being fed over it. Most likely there is something on the glass where the scanner parks as originals are being fed thru the feeder. When putting your original on the large scan glass to copy, the mark on the glass will only show as a spot, but will show as a vertical line thru the whole copy when using the feeder.
