Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi ! so i recently reinstalled windows XP pro onto an msi ms-1012 laptop and after that i couldn't get internet by Wireless. and i started to install the required drivers and i could not find the wifi driver! (it has an integrated wireless 800 .11 b/g or sth like that) also, on device manager it has a missing icon (the big yellow ?) on the following devices: PCI Modem; Network adapter so i need to determinate, what exact wifi hardware i have, to download proper drivers. heres a link to my specs:http://www.msiwhitebook.com/product_spec.asp?model=ms-1012

I think u shoul look under network adapters.... pci modem is for the modem which u have on ur computer... and that is used when u connect to the internet using a dial up connection.. wherein u insert the telephone jack onto ur computer and then dial in a specific number to get connected to the internet... check under network adapters and see whether u have any wi-fi drivers are missing or not?

I have recently installed a new copy of windows xp pro to my laptop and it will not recognise the wireless adapter

Hi gauntle,

Most version of windows XP doesnt have drivers for the wireless adapters, you have to download the driver for your laptop, from your laptop vendor website.....

NOTE: if you give me your laptop make and model number i can suggest you the link to sownload the drive....

Or if u dont have the access to internet, ask your vendor for deriver, some vendor may given you CD containing the driver

Hi,
The chat got diconnected, apologise for the same. Some times that chat tool acts up.
What we need to do to help you resolve the problem is to uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver.
1. Connect the ,laptop to the wireless router using a network cable. So that we have stable internet connection
2. Click on start and go to control panel, open Add or remove programs
3. Uninstall Intel Pro wirelss and click uinstall
4. Restart your computer
5. Download the updated driver for the wireless connection from the following website
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62875

Save the file on your desktop: 7kwc50ww.exe
6. Double click on the file and install. Reconfigure the wireless settings
and it should work fine
