I changed it but it still reads out of range? However, the monitor works when it is in safe mode. Is there anything else I can do?

Is there any place else in the computer to change this? The monitor tab has the properties grayed out so I can't access it there

This means that your system has been set to a refresh rate or resolution higher than what the monitor can handle.

You will need to press the F8 key while your PC boots up, this will boot it into safe mode. If you are getting the out of range message and cannot see anything even when you press F8 then you will need to get another monitor to change the settings.

When you are able to see the desktop whether it be in safe mode or from another monitor, right click on the desktop and click Properties from the drop down menu. Then go to the Settings tab and click Advanced.

Once in the advanced screen go to the Monitor tab. Now change the Screen Refresh rate to the lowest it can go, 56-60 Hertz should be fine.

Then click OK to exit the Advanced settings. Now check that your Screen resolution is set to 1024X768. Once you have done this click OK to exit the Display Properties window.

Shut down the PC and connect the 15" LCD. Now switch on the PC and it should display fine.

Did you change the refresh rate or resolution?

Is the value under the heading Screen refresh rate greyed out under Monitor tab in the
Advanced Settings? Also make sure the box is ticked where it says: "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display."

You can go Start>Control Panel>Display to bring up the same properties window.

Boot into safe mode change the resolution to the lowest setting or at leat 800x600 (Safe mode runs at 800X600 so you know this resolution works). Then boot up and see what happens.

it is because the vga you have and monitor you have is not compatible at the first use, you have to press F7 while booting up. or if did not work you have to use another monitor to change your resolution into 800X600 and plug it again into the monitor which is out of range to be able to work.

just leave a comments

thank you

Coolant level - repeating message

Sometimes the float that tells the sensor how much fluid is in the tank sinks. When it sinks it is giving the impression that the tank is empty giving you that low coolant warning. You will have to replace the tank.

Showing message out of range

Your monitor settings within windows are set too high for the monitor to display... When computer first boots.. be ready and press the F8 key...
Enter safe mode.. Reset the display properties in control panel to 800 by 600 for a start. Setting the resolution too high past the monitors ability will give you that message.. Most monitors are able to display 1024 by 768 just fine.. Out of range.. means the display settings within windows are out of the monitors range of ability to display the screen resolution you have set... Good luck!!

Tried to selfclean my NEW oven but get error message F5E1

Reading all the questions and responses - I had the same problem (would press "self clean", it would run for less then a minute then give the error message), so once I saw the code was E5F1 and what it meant (thanks for whoever posted that), I just pressed on the door for the first minute of the cycle, and self-cleaning then worked. Go figure :)
