This is a common problem with all-in-one printer/scanner combos. Printer drivers and Scanner drivers are installed seperately unless the driver cd is REALLY high-speed (i've never seen it work once). What you'll need to do is open your control panel, go to "scanners and cameras" and click "add an imaging device" (on the left side of the window). It'll start a wizard to walk you through the steps of installing the scanner. Make sure the scanner is connected and turned on, and that you have your driver cd/installation disc loaded. If you dont have the disc, then you'll need to have the drivers in a folder somewhere on your pc, and you'll have to manually point the wizard to that folder. This should square you away. Good Luck

I have installed HP PHoto and Imaging Softward for ScanJet 3570c 48 bit. Everytime I try to click on icons on the scanner, my computer shows an error message that there is a problem with connecting to the...

Does the same error occur if you launch a scan from the computer? What OS do you have? Vista only has a basic driver available and does not support the scanner buttons. (You can launch the scans from a number of options: third-party software, Windows Fax and Scan (new scan), Microsoft Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera > New Scan) and Windows Photo Gallery.)

If the error occurs when you launch the scan from the computer, try a new data cable and different USB ports. Try a direct USB connection if you use a hub. Then check your USB ports and the drivers for the USB. (For Windows, look in the Device Manager. Start > Control Panel > System > Device Manager (exact directions will depend on the OS).

The HP Photo and Imaging software requires you to set the default scan destinations in the software before you can use the buttons on the scanner (for those OS/driver versions that support the feature). Always open the software and scan from the computer to see what the defaults will be. Each version of HP's imaging software set up these buttons differently; the help option is useful. Try Scan > Scan settings to find where to set the color and black & white destinations.

I hope this helps. If you add a comment with your OS and whether the computer can launch a scan, I'll provide additional help if I can.

Are you getting an error/ red light on the scanner button when its on? when scanning from Paint ( File, then from scanners and cameras) does it freeze as well? or only when using epson scan? make sure cable is directly connected from the scanner to your computer, no hubs or anything.. keep me posted.

No Show!

Two things you can easily check:

Ensure the issue is not caused by Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) EMI can cause similar image quality issues. Verify that the scanner is not in the direct vicinity of the computer monitor and/or speakers. If so, relocate the scanner at least three feet away from the monitor and/or speakers and retry the scan.

Also, try this as well:
Re-home the scanning carriage The scanning carriage in the scanner may have lost the home position and needs to be reset.
  1. Shut the computer system off and then disconnect the scanner from the power source. Leave the scanner disconnected from the power source for at least one full minute.
  2. Reconnect the power and then restart the computer system.
  3. When the computer system has fully restarted, try scanning again.
Oh.. and you ARE using the power supply that came w/ the scanner aren't you?? If not, you NEED to.
