Question about Aiwa CA-DW538 Shelf System

Open Question

RE: CA-DW538 with dual tape player-recorder. Radio and CD player work just fine. The tape player no longer will play. It appears that the drive mechanism does not have sufficient power to advance the tape inside the cassette in either PLAY or FAST FORWARD settings. I would appreciate your suggestions for personal repair or availability for local service center in zip code 07750. I have done nothing to attempt repair. Please respond to leerankin3@comcast.net Many thanks. LR

SOURCE: Tape is stuck in VCR- Fast rewind and forward

ok sorry man gotta step in Its not the pinch roller as you claimed that picks up the slack on the tape its the pinch roller that would cause wow and flutter in audio on a tape on slower speeds what picks up tape slack is the takeup reel. Theres many reasons why the takeup reel dosent pick up the tape and there fore the unit "eats the tape" it could be a gear assy or even on older units could simply be the rubber drive wheel. Or a belt problem and I know these JVC s really well and its a combo the drive belt as well as the pickup gear assy.

SOURCE: tape deck does nothing when play is pressed

Maybe a problem of no power to motor. I own 2 identical Aiwa units, both have tape deck problems. This brand is prone to them They also have nasty habit of tape cassette doors jamming.
1st off you never said how old the unit is. Awia have huge amount of models. Mine are the NX series that came out in black plastic. Most of the others are silver/grey. Honestly, unless you pop side screws and lift the cover off to eyeball anything loose. and none is? And if out of warrenty, the value of fix, mat exceed value of unit.
Sorry, but I see many of these,  of 4-5 yr old units Aiwa brand,
get the heave ho!
The most stupid thing about this is: for units size, has the best sound of any other brand it's size.. Brilliant for hooking to ones TV sets, for  surround sound!
What I did was get an older getto blaster  that plays tapes to play my tapes on. some of these units are around and in good order, dirt cheap. And most electronic equipment problems cost at least $35  just to have a quick look at your unit.. cost of repair on top?  I brought my 1st one new @ well over a grond. 3 yrs later, 2ns one, exactly the same $15.00 in a charity shop. The  laser unit was dusty. All go in half an hr. Perhaps if it is an older model , look for another mate to it,   It all comes down to costs.
Which is better option... you are the one who has to made the choice. Good luck. Jamz

SOURCE: Technics RS-TR272 dual cassette deck

My RS-TR272 tape deck plays the cassette but no sound. I have not even used it much, may be 3-4 times in last five years. I tried demagnetizing it but still no effect. It is brand new unit, only thing I did last time was that plugged in the RCA cables in opposite ways one time (Output in In and In into output one). I am not sure if that had any bad effect on it. Can someone please help on this as unit shows cassette playing. There is no volume switch on the unit itself as someone else recommended in the previous answer.

My Dual CS 430 turntable suddenly stopped playing - rest of equipment (radio, CD player, tape deck) okay. Can you help, please?

Amplifiers always take the sound of the turntable via a separate pre-amp from all other systems, such as radio and CD players. This pre-amp can go faulty killing the sound from the turntable only. If the turntable goes through the actions of playing the record, then this is the cause of your trouble.

How do I get it to record a voice?

Many portable 'boombox' recorders do not include a microphone for recording ambient sound, but can only record from one internal source to another, like radio or CD to Cassettte. Some do include an input jack for microphones or other audio sources, but you'll need to check your device's specs/ports to be sure.

All functions work well EXCEPT the tape drive spindles do not have sufficient power to play cassette tapes forward or in rewind. I have no technical service bulletin to guide me how to repair. I don't what...

You answered your own question, you need to replace the belt, some will probably suggest to soak it in some magic potion but believe me it won't work... I've even tried some RUBBER RENEW solutions from M.G. Chemicals at 20$ a bottle, the new belt is cheaper... bring the belt to a GOOD OLD local electronic repair shop they probably have one in stock and don't pay more than 1$ (don't be afraid to negotiate... they are stuck with it and you need it), it's best for them to have 1$ in the cash register than a old belt collecting dust in the back store HA!... or look for one in a defective or unused tape player it might fit... even in some old unused VCR...

GOOD LUCK!

Recording

You can only record from the radio or CD player. There's no microphone input on this model. Just insert a tape and press the REC button. If you're recording from the CD, it begins playing when you press the REC button. If you need a copy of the manual you can download it here.

Vcr/dvd combo, vcr no longer will play tape, when I press play, after a few seconds will eject tape.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the eject mechanism and the drive motor connected with the tape mechanism. Try and align the drive motor. Also check the push-pull arm of the tape mechanism and make sure that the springs connected with the mechanism are fine.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Unable to to dub from the radio, phono,or cd

As far as I know, you need to press Record button to record from external source. If you press Dub, it will start Dubbing from Tape-A to Tape-B. You might be need to press Record and later press Pause or Play to start recording.
