Never use Norton Anti Virus, it is very hard software makes computer very slow, even Virus does not do that.

In my opinion use Avira Anti Virus. This is very light and powerfull anitvirus ever and also came 1 year full free with / in Chip Magazine DVD, and also can download from Internet as well as update too.

I assume you're using a Windows computer. You may have an unnecessary amount of programs set to run on start up. I would recommend running an application like CCleaner to help remove some of the clutter than computers tend to accumulate. Norton is good for virus protection and has some other handy features CCleaner does wonders for maintenance.
You can also adjust some Performance Settings on Windows machines by going to: Start > Control Panel > Advanced > Find the Settings button in the Performance section.
On the Visual Styles tab you can Adjust for best performance to trade your colorful GUI for the plain look and a small speed boost.
On the Advanced tab you can adjust your Page File/Virtual Memory (This is space on your hard drive, that is dedicated to writing files temporarily during heavy processes). I generally keep the Initial Size and Maximum Size the same and set the sizes to twice your amount of RAM.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Has become extremely SLOW? I've run Norton 360 tune-up with no improvement. What's the deal?

I personally like and use Avast Free AntiVirus. A virus could be slowing you down greatly.

I also like Ccleaner (.com for the website) which cleans out old cookies, files and junk that will slow your computer down.

I also would recommend you do a defragmentation and disk cleanup.

I like to do all the things above to keep my E1505 running good.

I cannot download the Norton 360 Version 4 to my computer. I have dial up service which is very slow.

If you contact Symantec, they can supply a cd if required. It will take a long time to download 80Megs on Dial Up!
Symantec reccomends a 2Meg download speed, see the link for more help.

I am on dial up internet and have installed, Norton 360. My computer is very very slow now. Has anyone else had this problem and what do you use for internet software? Thanks Shirley

Norton is a very secure antivirus....
But it also have its disadvantages....
Its updates are heavy and it usually continuously scan your computer making it very slow...

I recommend that you use a lighter antivirus like avira, avast and avg.....

and I know that AVG can be updated from pendrive meaning you can donwload the update file on another computer at work for example and run it on your pendrive to update it....

Hope it helps

Slow computer

Norton is a huge resource pig. Back in the mid 90's I swore by norton. Now, however, i dont like it. Try uninstalling it and going with Kaspersky, or for a free option, Comodo Internet Security, which has 5 stars from cnet.

Norton 360 says scann is running when it is not. cann not connect to support. "program not respondig" message

I've this happen to me in the past. In my case, a virus had infected my computer and corrupted Norton to make it appear like it was running when it wasn't. Make sure the problem isn't a virus first, and then try to reinstall Norton if there is no virus. I would try a virus scan at safety.live.com or download AVG free from downloads.com

maybe your norton is configured on a high security state. you better configure it as minimal security state. by browsing and reading whats inside your norton, you could find the things you have to adjust to enable some services of your PC.
