My computer had to be wiped and I was able to download the software for copying but not scanning for my HP All in one C4480. Everytime I tried to download for scanning I was asked to insert a disc which I cannot find. Please help!

Hp C4480 Photosmart, imaging device not found, wont scan.

I can not scan. It always says cannot scan. Try
is it making copies properly????if yes then clean the scanner bed...try again..else go to control pannel >>add or remove program>> delete solution center>>smart web printing>>photosmart essential...restart the computer...then put the cd in..click on add more softwre>>solution center>>photosmart essential..it wil work..if not then open solution center>>settings>>scan option...transfer all the option to right side...update the list it will work

  • On the page which opens, select the operating system (Windows Xp/Vista..) of your computer and download the appropriate drivers and software from the next page which opens..

Can scan & copy, but can't print
It may not be the settings, it could be an outdated driver, if you are using the cd too install software, try downloading the software from hp website.

Frankly Vista is a dog, and I'm not surprised at your difficulty. Have you tried installing the printer from Vista itself, rather than using the Printer CD? This can work if the printer CD is for XP (as many are).
