Hi,

Depending on the specific model of your washer, probable culprit for "No Drain" with the strainer (filter) clean are:

  • stuck/defective drain valve;
  • defective drain pump/impeller;
  • kinks in or clog drain hose.
Please visually inspect/clean (and replace if needed) the above mentioned components.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

How do I get to the pump to clean it on my Kenmore he5 washer

Remove the bottom panel in the front or toe kick area. It's 2 or 3 small screws and lifts up. You may have to tilt the machine back to remove it. The pump and strainer are accessible there. The strainer cap screws off, put a catch tray under it because up to quart of water can drain there. Clean the strainer of debris before replacing pump.

I'm getting the F35 code on the washer. I've ran just the rinse cycle a few times and worked okay for two days and back to code again. i put the cleaning tablets in as well and ran that cycle also.

Hi

F35 is a water level error. The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned. Pull the lower front cover of with 3 torx screws. There is a strainer inside the 3" pump cover.(white cover unscrews by hand) be careful if the washer still has water in it, slowly unscrew the cover with a pan under the machine so water can drain first. Pull the strainer and clean all the junk out of it. Feel inside the pump fins for other obstructions. Put it back together and problem solved or you need a new pump.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

Washer does not drain. We have cleared the lines (which did have some debris). We could hear the pump run, but it did not pump water out. We removed the pump and found that it spins when plugged into...

There is no valve or sensor, did you pull the strainer out of the drain pump and check for debris? if the strainer in the pump is clean and the pump runs but does not drain then the impeller in the pump is bad and the pump will have to be replaced....

Our frigidaire Galley front loader washer has an odor all the time even after washing in hot water...any suggestions?

Most odor problems can be traced to mildew or mold in the creases and folds of the bellows seal and the pump strainer. This is the seal that you see when the door is opened and connects to the drum.
There are chemicals available that can be placed in the washer. I've seen them advertised on YouTube (type in smelly washer), but I cannot vouch for them.
Some people report that they have been advised to leave the door open when the washer is not in use, and I've seen others recommend Tilex.
What works best, in my opinion is a thorough cleaning, including the strainer. Here's how:
Gain access to the strainer. It is located behind the front panel, at the bottom. The strainer is in-line between the drum and the pump, and is connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Open and clean the strainer. Look up into the pump cavity and remove/kill any debris in there as well. Reassemble the strainer, putting a spray of silicone on the "O" ring and threads. Wipe down the bellows seal with a solution of bleach and soapy water, getting all of the grooves and nooks wetted. Let it sit for 5 minutes, and wipe it again. Pour 1 cup of bleach in the washer. Fill the dispensers (detergent, bleach and softener) with bleach. Run a "sanitary" extended cycle with the hottest water on the wash cycle and rinse cycle. When this cycle is completed, run another cycle to flush all bleach residue out. Clean the seal with the bleach/soapy water 1X/week, or as your nose tells you.
Hope that you have found this to be helpful.

Does a maytag model mah2400a have a drain filter i have a sour smell an have tried vinager bleech and baking soda nothing has worked any suggestions

It has a strainer. These strainers are evidently designed to make washers stink. Your strainer is located behind the kick panel, below the main panel. The strainer is located between the drum and the pump. It is connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Unplug your washer. Pull and clean the strainer, While the strainer is open, look up into the pump suction cavity and remove any loose debris that you see in there. Reassemble the strainer, replace the kick panel.
Clean the door seal face with a bleachy water solution, let it sit, and wipe it down again. You want to get the solution into the grooves behind the seal face, and wherever you think mold and mildew might be on/in/behind the bellows seal.
Put one cup of bleach directly into the washer tub.
Fill all of the dispenser cups with bleach.
Run the washer on your hottest setting (no clothes). I use the sanitary setting with an extended wash.
When the cycle is finished, run another cycle with nothing in the dispenser cups or tub, Just plain hot water, this will flush out the bleach residue. Most folks wipe their bellows seal face and grooves down with bleachy water regularly. (1X / wk).
Hope this helps. Best regards, --W/D--

Does not pump out water

Hi,

There are two things that you can do that will help:
1. Clean your strainer. It is located between the drum and the pump, very low in the washer. If yours is a front loader, it's behind the kick panel and is located between the drum and the pump. The strainer is connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Unscrew the strainer, and clean it (caution, water!). Look up into the pump and remove any debris that has made it past the strainer.
2. Dump the contents of your drain hose (the one that goes to the wall drain) into a bucket. If possible, run an empty load with your hose pointed outside.

Mildew smell in towels after washing. Tried

Hi,
Everything that you did was good and right. Front loaders have a tendence to harbor mold and mildewy smells by the nature of their design. Cleaning the pump strainer, and repeating the steps that you took woll take care of the problem. The pump strainer is located between the drum and the pump, behind the kick panel of the washer. The strainer is connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Open and clean the strainer. While it is open, peer up into the pump, and see if you can see any other debris in there. Remove al that you can, and reassemble the strainer. Wipe down the seal faces at the door with a solution of bleachy/soapy water, and run a 'sanitary' load with bleach in all dispenser cups. Dump 1 cup of bleach also into the tub prior to starting the empty load. Use the hottest water setting. After the cycle ends, run another empty load to flush all traces of the bleach from the system. This should take care of the issue.

THE CODE LD IS SHOWING UP AND WASHER IS NOT OPERATING

Press stop, cancel twice to reset. The Ld error is when it takes longer than 5 minutes for the washer to drain and reset the sensor. You probably have a partially plugged strainer or drain line. To check the strainer, remove the kick panel at the front bottom of the machine. The strainer is ibetween the drum and the pump, being connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Open the strainer (caution, water!), and clean. If you did not find much in the strainer, clean the drain hose. Dump the contents of the drain hose into a bucket. If possible, run an empty losd with dth drain line pointed outside.
This should fix your issue!

Our frigidaire Gltf2940es3 is not spinning the clothes out dry they are soaking wet when they come out any answers to our problem

Hello.

Usually the spinning issue is caused by the water not pumping out, even as the washer attempts to initiate the spin cycle. Try this: Unplug the washer. Remove the front kick panel, and locate the strainer. It will be located between the drum and the pump. Open and clean the strainer. Careful, there will be water here. While you have the strainer open, look as best you can up into the pump impeller. If you see anything hung up in there, you'll need to get it out. If not, reassemble the strainer. It's best to lubricate the "O" ring and threads on the strainer with a little silicone spray. Hopefully, you'll find enough in the strainer to explain your issue, and your washer will again to work as advertised.

Cloths still smell after a wash

Try to clean the strainer. Without knowing more about your washer, it is difficult to give you exact information so bear with me. If it is a top loader, there may be a strainer/filter inside the agitator cone. Pull out the softener dispenser, and clean the strainer beneath it. If it is a front loader, there is usually a strainer just before the pump. This is usually found by removing the lower kick panel and opening a screwed lid just before the pump. Caution here though, there will be water. It is also best to perform this with the washer unplugged. Once you have located and cleaned your strainer, run an empty load on your hottest setting with bleach, followed by another empty load on your hottest setting with just water. Hopefully, this will get your wash smelling better!
