Question about Husqvarna Garden

1 Answer

I have a Husqvarna 61, it starts fine and will cut wood happily for the first five minutes of use, but then it looses power and stalls. It will start again fine, but then cuts out again soon after. I've checked the air filter, checked the spark plug and changed the fuel but still no joy. Any ideas of what I can try next? Many thanks Sam

Start withe the inexpensive stuff first, pull the fuel hose out of the tank and change the filter on the end, by your discription it could also be an electrical issue, the early 61 had a two peice system, an electronic block to the left of the flywheel, and a coil at the right, if you have this system check the where the yellow two wires connect under the head of a self tapping screw under the coil, if the connection is ok it may well be a case of replacing the electronic box. The later 61 has a single peice ignition system, this may be breaking down when it gets hot, and need replacing.
Let me know how it goes, and if you need help with part numbers etc.

Sounds like the safety switch may have stuck. Allowing it to set, the switch "released". Just my guess.

I have a Husqvarna Z4217 was cutting and blades started making a rattling noise so I cut it off checking the blades the one on the right is loose but when I try to tighten it the pulley turns the blade...

You can use a block of wood and I even locked mine with a pair of vice grips or if there is room a pipe wrench. It would help to take it completely off and squirt some oil on the threads and start over then when you sharpen the blades they will be easy to take off later. I would sharpen the blades before you do this as well.

H carburetor adjustment might be too lean--try turning CCW 1/8 Turn or so--engine should 4-stroke at speed with no load and immediately smooth-out with light load (cutting wood). Any vacuum leak would cause no/hard starting. It is normal for the engine to "scream" at speed--are the chain and bar being properly oiled? Use hearing protectors.

Are you pumping the primer till it's full of fuel? The fuel pump diaphram is only strong enough to keep things flowing after you have pumped it up. you will need to prime it up again if you run it out of fuel or if it sits any length of time
