X1195 feed problem

My printer doesnt feed proberly.

when i need to print, it feeds the paper mostly in the right side, wasting the paper, and consequently printing the entire document in the bottom 2cm of the paper, completety un-usable. i've used a lot of rain forest trying to fix the problem. apparently placing the papers in different angles doesn't help.

any suggestions? i dont want to buy a new printer - it's only half a year old.

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Hi

If it attempts to feed and expecially when you hear a cricking sound. It means that the paper guide it too tighten that it holds the paper. Try to loose up the paper tray guide. Are you using a paper tray. If not, put small paper or change the correct setting of the paper size setting to auto detect if any.

The try to print again.

I am unable to print an address on an envelope.... it comes out blank

Hello,

It sounds like to paper setting is wrong. In the configuration you can set if the envelope in on the right side, left side or center of the paper feed. If it is set one way and you feed the envelope the other way the printer will print but on the wrong end of the feed area so nothing will be on the envelope. Try this, print an address label as you would on the envelope but just use a full sheet of paper. If it prints where you can see it, then feed the envelope on that side, or change the feed settings in your software to print on the other side. Office and most other programs have this setting. In MS word the orientation setting is on the envelope and label screen on the right side of the pop up box.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Chronic paper jams

If it appears to start printing sucks up a sheet a little way and then stops red light on etc try the waste toner trick. I was plagued by this problem for ages then took out the waste toner container sucked out the dust with a vacuum cleaner stuck it back no more jams. It is less a jam than the thing just getting an error from the waste toner. The other thing could be the paper feed roller. There is a rubber on this that grips the paper and feeds it if it is worn then the paper wont feed. I flipped it over kind of turning it inside out to get a fresh smooth side that will grip and feed the paper. If you are a little dextrous then it isnt a difficult job. Had two of these and problems on paper feed with both. The toner is expensive the waste container at a tenner is a ridiculous price. Still the second one was bought as it was cheaper to get the whole printer with toner than a 4 colour toner pack, I use it for spares! email if you want to try the feed roller trick.

Paper does not feed - GRABS RIGHT SIDE

gears below the paper feeding tray are damaged or some dust particle have blocked the gears try to clean it by blowing the dust use normal greece (oily substance) between the gears so that they can move frequently to pull the paper, and if the gears are damaged you have to change the gears.

Paper keeps jamming

I was told by the local repair shop that Samsung made at least two mistakes on this printer related to the feed roller. 1) Many were installed backwards; reversing fixes it. 2) Many rollers were not manufactured correctly - replacement is about $20 (plus labor). They told me to call Samsung and ask them to at least cover labor to determine which problem; will do shortly. Don't forget, if you registered your printer, you got an extra 3 months warranty, 15 months total. I missed that by a month :(

PRINTING PROBLEMS

With all due respect to "sanjeevverma", solution #1 is nonsense; the Brother HL-5250DN paper tray is self-centering; in other words, there is only ONE position for the paper to sit in the tray ... the PROPER position (centered BTW); let's break it down:

paper not feeding correctly - if lollydoll is talking about the wrinkling, this a known problem with this print engine with no real solution; the feed mechanism design is extremely sensative to the moisture content of the paper (ie, if the printer is being used anywhere but a temperature and humidty controlled office -- good luck); thicker paper (eg, 24 pound paper - ask the Staples guy) may solve the problem if the temperature and humidity in your house isn't too far off the office norm (72°F and 50% R.H.); two items tucked in the corners of the manual (but not talked about by their tech support staff) are (1) paper path pressure release levers in the back (they are blue - check the manual to see how they work), and (2) there is a "thin" setting for the paper type on the printer's properties window; it has helped a little at my house; the only real solution is to print at least three copies of your documents; apparently getting the fuser up to temperature is key to getting non-wrinkled printouts.

paper doesn't feed at all - the roller at the front of the paper tray must be incredibly contaminated; use DENATURED ALCOHOL and cotton swabs to clean the roller and the other parts it touches; you can unplug the printer if you're worried about it

printing when no paper is present - BAD! this means either (1) there is a scrap of paper torn off and blocking the sensor - which is unlikely because the print-time diagnostics would catch that the sensor does not "cycle" when the paper supposedly passes through, or (2) the sensor is defective - in which case toss the printer and buy an H-P (spend at least $300, eh!)

don't get me wrong ... I LOVE my HL-5250DN (although I hate wasting all that paper and toner) ... but my first three lasers were HP's and they NEVER wrinkled or tore my paper ... I bought the Brother because it was twice as fast and printed duplex for half the money of the HP ... now I'll pay the difference in paper and toner but "c'est la vie"
