There are a few simple things to check first:

Make sure your computer has a sound card.

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button I would like to reinstall - 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers category. If a sound card is listed, you have one installed. If no sound card is listed, You will need to install one. See Install or remove a sound card.

  3. If there is a yellow question mark next to the name of the sound card, there might be a problem. Right-click the name of the sound card, and then click Properties.

  4. Click the General tab, and then look in the Device status box to identify problems with the sound card.

  • Make sure your speakers are plugged into a working power source and turned on.

  • Make sure your speakers are correctly connected to the computer.

On your speakers, find the cable that plugs into your computer. Make sure that the speaker cable is plugged into the speakers and the correct jack on the computer. For example, if the cable is a 1/8 inch cable, there should be a round jack for it on the back of the computer. If it is a universal serial bus (USB) cable, it will plug into any USB port on your computer.

  • Make sure that the speaker volume is not muted or turned down too low.

    1. Open Volume Control by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then, under Audio Devices and Sound, clicking Adjust system volume.

    2. Under Main Volume, move the slider up or down to raise or lower the volume.

Some mobile PCs have an external volume control on the outside of the case. If you're using a mobile PC, check the external volume control.

  • Make sure your headphones are not plugged into the line out (headphone) jack of your sound card or computer (unless you want to be listening with headphones rather than speakers). When you plug in headphones, most computers automatically cut the sound to the speakers.

How do you remove it from the monitor?

From the back the sound bar slides lengthwise to the right. To keep it from sliding there is a plastic tab set into the back of the monitor on the right center end. To release that tab pull the release lever located over the tab on the right center of the speaker assembly, toward you. Then the whole speaker assembly will slide to the right and lift. Done.

NO SOUND

It sound like your computers sound card drivers might be un-installed. Assuming you have a dell computer go to the following link http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs Click on Drivers and Downloads type in your service tag number located on the side of your case. Scroll down and find the sound card driver relevant to your operating system, download and install. Let me know how you make out.

HOW TO GET MY PC WORKING AFTER REINSTALLING THE VISTA SYSTEM

If your PC is a Dell you should be able to locate all of the Device Drivers you require from the DELL website. NOTE: You may need to download the Device Drivers using another PC (if your's no longer connects to the internet).

1. Navigate to http://www.dell.com.au/.
2. Select Drivers & Downloads located under the Support section, at the bottom of the screen.
3. Choose the type of support you require (ie, Home and Office, Small Business etc...).
4. Identify your product (either by the Service Tag, or Model Name etc..).

Follow any other onscreen instructions. If you find it is difficult, use the Support section to ask a question.

You should also able to upgrade the Device Drivers from within the PC itself.

Hope this helps. Regards,

The speakers no longer work. are there drivers i

HI,

Speakers do not require drivers to be installed. Please check if:

1) Your power cord is connected to the socket properly
2) Check Jeck Pins are inserted properly into the speaker and to the PC and accurately. (Two to the speaker Red and Yellow & one to the PC Black.

3) Check if your sound card is installed properly or if it is installed then check it is muted from the right lower corner at the task bar.

I hope this will help resolving your problem. If you have any other problems, do let me know so that I could think further to resolve your problem.

Please do rate my solution!

Thanks

Audio Configuration fudged

Sometimes when you delete a software that relies on your sound, it will accidently erase the sound driver. Look on the front of your computer and write down the model number of your computer. Example Dell 2400. Go to manufacturers website and click on support and drivers. Find your brand and redownload/install audio driver. Reboot and your all done!

My Dell 32in. LCD TV, model W3201C no longer produces any sound.

That was indeed the sound module. I spent hours trying to find a replacement for my Dell TV. There was one on eBay for over $100.00, I decided to remove my speakers and install a low cost sound bar from Radio Shack. Easy to install and sounds fine. Several techs told me those boards are a problem along with every other board in those sets and since the Dell is low quality to begin with, I wouldn't spend the money. Go with the sound bar and buy a real TV next time. I'll go Samsung or Sony when mine finally dies for good.
